Bidra med feedbackA great Cafè for groups and cat lovers! The cats are just adorable, really cute. The orders take some time from 20-45mins., but you are there for the cats and not for food and drinks after all, so you need some free time, but well staying there for 2 hours or longer should be no problem at all, just play or watch the cats. It is quite popular, so cut the staff some slack, if you are there for an fast coffee, it is not the right place, just go to an regulat Cafè. It is a relaxing Cafè with cute cats, which I can only recommend! It is just a good healing time!
This review is going to be a short one because I did not try anything in Cats Cafe. We were never served after twenty minutes there. The waitress did not even take our order. And that is the full story if interested. I had lived in Karlsruhe in 2015 but the cafe did not yet exist. But I had been to a very similar cat-based cafe in Munich, also vegetarian and full of cats. So once a friend found out about Cats Cafe in Karlsruhe he suggested we payed a visit once I would visit him in a nearby village he lives. And so we did. The cafe is a bit hidden in the first floor of the building. We went through the first door, closed it, and opened the second door to enter a bright rectangular space. Three furry cats were lying on different parts of the floor and one was walking around. A small bar on the left side and next to it a narrow corridor leading to the kitchen. The furniture in the cafe area had been rearranged, apart from the few booths on the window side, in a way to form two rows of single tables with a chair on two opposing sides of each table. On each of this tables there was a canvas placed. Some tables had been already occupied by persons. Apparently, the Cats Cafe serves as a place for art/drawing lessons and the day we visited happened to be so. All fine by me if we as-non-art participants had been given any attention. There was one waitress only. She was running from one art-table to another serving beverages. We were not offered any menu card since there was one on the table. I went to have a look for the cats and saw one more lady coming out of the kitchen. She went to organise the art course participants. I returned to the booth and still the waitress had not asked for our order. Then the two girls sitting on the booth behind us asked for the check and as the waitress went to their table she greeted us. Our patience was running out. We only wanted a juice and a beer, alcohol free one since the place does not serve alcohol as it was clearly stated on their menu. We said to wait five minutes more. In the meantime three-four people from the art course arrived and sat on the tables. These people were immediately served while we were there for about fifteen minute and had not been served. But what really was the cherry on top was that two of the ladies that arrived after us and sat on one of the art tables asked for a wine schorle and the lady said that the place does not serve alcohol but there is a bottle of wine left from some event held in the cafe a few days back and so she could make them a schorle. She passed by our booth ignoring us one more time, went to the kitchen and got the wine, and went to the bar to open it and make the schorle. That was when we decided to go because that was completely unprofessional and offensive towards us. We had been ignored as customers for about 20 minutes, when all the persons participating to the art course to arrive later than us were served immediately. And at the end they even got a wine drink in a place that according to their menu no alcohol is served. That is too much! If the owners want to have the whole cafe booked for art courses that is fine. But if they decide to run the course parallel to the regular activity of the cafe then all customers should be treated the same and served upon arrival. No distinguish and special treatment between course participants and regular customers.
This is a wonderful place to spend time with cats, to interact with friendly and social employees and to enjoy their eating! I really liked how many vegan options they had. most foods were Japanese inspired, like ramen, udon, gyozas, mochi, etc. that is one of the most spacious cat cafés in which I was, so the cats have more space to move around. do not expect them to go to them and/or entertain them. I saw some people who disturb the cats, which is really sad to see. some cats like to cool.
Cool experience, mega cute cats, beautiful operation beautiful concept. we had curry don, dangos, tee and chai latte, all vegan and delicious. curry don was a bit cold. the tee unfortunately without sugar and a single serviette for everyone has not been enough. my highlight was the wind game that was beautiful when the door was up! had a ghibli flashback!
Love the concept! The staff is also very nice, sometimes a bit too energetic hahaha. The cats are very cute
