Via Sophia By The Sea Kennebunk Me

Overall the service is what made this dinner amazing. Most of the time my husband and I are treated differently because we are a younger couple going to a nice upscale restaurant and that wasn’t the case this time. Our server was fantastic. He made sure everything went great for us and really went out of his way to ensure this dinner was amazing. Our food came our pretty quickly, I got the shrimp scampi which was good, but the sauce was a little overpowering. Definitely would come here again, sadly do not remember our servers name, but if I did I would request him every time.

We were excited to try Via Sophia as part time locals, we waited to try this after the rush of the summer season. The ambience is beautiful and we really loved the warmth of the fireplace. The food was good but nothing was better than food we can have elsewhere in town. Unfortunately the service was subpar. Our server took a while to get to us and seemed annoyed when we asked for his recommendation for a wine by the bottle. The worst part, however, was that when he delivered our first courses he seemed of cigarette smoke which lingered at our table with our food after he departed. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we had a first course and entrees, no dessert. However, the servers began noisily clanging flatware from the dishwasher as we finished our second course making it difficult to hear each other even though it was not even 9:10pm. We realize this is an early town and that we are at the end of a long season after summer, fall and prelude but it was really disappointing to have our meal disrupted in this way. Sad to say, we probably won’t be back for more than a drink at the bar so we can enjoy the ambience.

We came up to Kennybunk for a getaway weekend and had dinner. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable….dinner was perfect. Great night highly recommend.

Nice ambience and good service but some dishes missed the mark. Enjoyed the swordfish and pastas, calamari was overfried and tasteless. Great tiramisu to finish the meal and very nice wine recommendations.

Excellent eating. the choices were somewhat limited, but the quality was excellent. the service was excellent.
