1906 At Longwood Gardens

Very cool place. Just an hour and a half from Baltimore. We ate at 1906 inside the gardens. It was really good. A tat bit on the expensive side but everything else was great. Will definitely go back.

The ambiance of this place is truly stunning and inviting. The melodic chirping of birds and the delightful fragrance of blooming flowers create a serene atmosphere. Although we chose to sit indoors, we felt completely at ease, shielded from the heat that concerned the children. The service we received was exceptional, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The presentation of the food was visually appealing, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. However, due to our family's specific eating preferences, some dishes didn't resonate as much with us. The steak and shrimp were the standout choices, highly recommended by other guests. One unique aspect was the bread we ordered in advance, which was presented in a charming little flower pot—definitely a conversation starter! While the prices are on the higher side, reflecting the upscale nature of the restaurant, the experience is still worth considering for a special occasion. Overall, it's a lovely place to visit, and I would recommend giving it a try!

Basil Sorbet- loved it! Will order the appetizer basil sorbet again as soon as I can get back to Longwood! Small portion but really loved the flavor topped with a bit of Kosher salt. I ordered vegetables as my meal. I tried the squash appetizer with ricotta blossoms and Romesco (tomato and red pepper sauce). For me, the seemingly flash blanched squash was underwhelming. I like squash sauteed crisp tender. This squash was too raw tasting and flavorless, although the romesco helped. Also had the kale Caesar salad, lots of flavor here. Although i have a good appetite, I would only order it if I was sharing due to strongly flavored salty richness of the dressing. Waitress was great and attentive.

Great restaurant in the garden! Very nice interior and atmosphere with great food. The bread in a pot is so cute and tastes so good, the chocolate flower out is also amazing! It is a bit pricy but I think the quality and tastes is truly worthy for a special occasion.

Very good dining experience, but unfortunately only very good. Sat outside on the patio on a hot busy Saturday evening. Very casual feel surrounded by trees. All food was excellently plated, extraordinarily beautiful with flowers. The salmon was perfectly subtlety seasoned. However the food underneath was missing something: zucchini was uninspired and unseasoned on the salmon, the corn wasn't local fresh on the crab salad, the aoli tasted like mayo. Nothing was daring or visionary. The service was just very good as well, Our waiter was food, but not personable and all knowing. Waters sat empty for a while. The people next to us didn't get waters for a while. Food wasn't delivered with precision. My review seems nitpicky, but 1906 is billed as a fine dining establishment. It needs a but of work to live up to that.
