Carrollee Hotel - Kingaroy

Since the change of owners, it is easy to get a seat as the service and meals aren't as good as they used to be. My favorite Chicken Schnitzel is still on the menu but the new owners have changed the type of schnitzel which isn't as nice. There is never many people dinning anymore so it is easy to get a table. We used to have to phone and book a table when the last owners were there. We only go here if the other venues in town are busy.

Had a reservation and when we arrived there was no other diners there. Alot of the menu items were unavailable (eg- Ordered lamb shanks, there was no lamb so had to pick something else. Ordered the mixed grill, there was no chops so it was substituted with a second sausage. Ordered the grilled red emperor, there was none so was substituted for sweetlip.) At a table of 13 people, only one had hot chips with their meals, all others were cold. Those that ordered mash instead of chips did not fare better. The mash was frozen in the middle of one dish, and it was very lumpy and floury. The frozen mash was partially rectified when they stuck the meal back in microwave. With the mushroom gravy that four diners orderd, three of them contained 1 mushroom, the fourth contained absolutely no mushrooms. The redlip (sweetlip) was supposed to come with a bacon and leek sauce, but it come out with no sauce. It seemed like an inconvenience when I asked for the sauce that was missing. When the kids were finished their kids meals, I went to the bar to order the ice cream which was part of their meals, but after 20 mins of waiting for a simple soft serve in a eatery that wasn't that busy, we ended up leaving and getting them a soft serve from McDonald's instead. Very disappointing food, would not recommend and definitely won't return.

I ordered bangers n mash and they stuffed it up. How can you stuff up bangers n mash??? So they offered an alternative and stuffed that too. So I had to wait til I got home to get some decent food. So much for a night out. But this is a regular occurrence at the 'carro' for me. The place is over rated and the food is mediocre at best. My sincere advice is 'don't go there'.

Don't be put off by the external appearance of the pub as I was. Looks like a grubby public bar type Hotel. Hubby took me for lunch one day and I was so pleasantly surprised. Big dining areas both inside and out (covered). Clean and friendly. Food was great! Wow

Good food. nice people. like the entertainment that is on from time to time. its not new. the toilets are needing an upgrade.
