I dined there recently as a group and was actually quite surprised how good the meal was. I eat at restaurants frequently and the steak was the best I have ever eaten. The meat was cooked absolutely perfectly and the quality of the meat was excellent. The sides were also quite good. It did not take long for the meals to come out and the staff were very good.

Went for Mothers Day lunch and in all fairness the manager bent over backwards to accommodate us despite a very late booking. The restaurant's outlook is beautiful and the dining setting is very comfortable and relaxing. Service is good, friendly but not professional, perhaps a family style operation. The menu is in line with what you would expect from a pub meal. Fish and chips, parmigiana, lamb shanks, steak, roast of the day. The food was ok - but for an equivalent meal I need spend no more than $10-$12 in one of Hobart's good pubs. However the restaurant was packed for the occasion with many families with older people looking pretty happy with what they were receiving. I think the venue has the potential to build its profile by lifting menu choice and quality to better match the pricing. Otherwise the choice is places like The Queens Head, Ocean Child, or Shamrock which represent food that is every bit as good at half the price.

After a considerable lengths drive, we arrived to Aura Cafe (Lounge Bar) only to be told they weren't serving ANY meals and/or refreshments. As it was a public holiday (Dec 27) over the Christmas period, I'd checked their website to make sure we were safe ... website said they were open so after arriving, wanting to celebrate my partners Birthday only to be turned away, we were most disappointed and left struggling to find somewhere else to go a such late notice!

The service was reasonably friendly however the meals are nothing to rave about. The potatoes and vegetables didn't taste freshly cooked, but as if they had been previously prepared and then reheated. The kids meal came with free ice-cream and soft drink. My grandson only eats sorbet and does not drink soft drink so I asked if he could have a glass of soda water instead. We were charged additional for the soda water.
