Fishy Fishy - Kinsale

We were disappointed with our lunch at Fishy Fishy. I had read much about the restaurant in guide books and Conde Nast which included glowing reviews so my expectations were high. They obviously do a roaring trade and are highly successful however I was disappointed that the fresh locally caught fish and seafood were not highlighted on the menu otherwise I would have chosen differently. My husband and I chose the Asian style tuna with rice, honey, soy and spring onions etc however it was so salty that salt must have been added as well as the soy sauce which made me think it was disguising something. All I could taste was salt. Much better to add it if one needs it. The mussels however were excellent with a lovely saffron sauce. Unfortunately we also sat close to a very raucous table of six people with a lot of high pitched cackling going on. They seemed oblivious to everyone else. I could forgive the noise if the food had been excellent but it wasn't. Lastly my husband was unlucky as he realised on leaving that the padding in the vinyl chair was soaking wet and his jeans were soaked. Somehow the chair must have been wet by the recent rains. I did mention it to a staff member and they were apologetic but it's a shame someone hadn't checked.

Dining at this Kinsale seafood restaurant was a delightful experience. The seafood was fresh and flavorful, the service exceptional, and the coastal setting added to the charm. A must-visit for seafood lovers!

We were so looking forward to our dinner at Fishy Fishy and although the food was very good, the service was atrocious. A very non attentive server took our order and payment only and ignored us the rest of the time despite many passes by our table. No check in to see if we needed anything, no offer of dessert or coffee. We even had to ask another server for our bill. We ALWAYS tip generously but this was the first time we have never tipped. There are better dining options in Kinsale!

After our daughter's wedding, 8 of us toured around Ireland. The Fishy fishy restaurant was top on our list for a place to eat while in Kinsale. The food and service was outstanding!

A fantastic spot for lunch. Hadn’t booked but after a short wait we were seated. Very good service from start to end Food was fabulous, the monkfish scampi was amazing, am told the hake was fabulous too. The only exception of the panacotta which was more of a puddle of cream surround by a really sour fruit Would visit again, as was the designated driver for this day out didn’t get to enjoy the wine list but would enjoy coming back.
