First time eating proper Kobe beef and it was amazing. Had the daily chef special cooked for us and it was great, would definitely come back. Prices for the non specials we're very reasonable as well. They give you a grill to cook on your self but will help you if needed.
It would be a complete missed opportunity if we did not try Kobe beef while in Kobe! After scouring the internet for recommendations, we settled on La Shomon on the outskirts of Kobe. Not far from a station, the second floor restaurant isn 't hard too hard to find (although you do need to look up to find the sign). Half expecting a super posh setting, we were greeted with a cozier environment, reminiscent of a typical Asian BBQ restaurant. Service here was pleasant and helpful, albeit perhaps a bit startled by foreign visitors? We ordered the famous Yume no seto set as well as an a la carte piece of Kobe beef that was on special. Each item was presented and described to us thoroughly and we enjoyed every piece. My favourites were the inside skirt and tenderloin pieces as they were the buttery consistency that I was expecting with that grade of wagyu beef. While the other pieces were good, I didn 't find them much different than a good piece of Angus steak from back home in Canada. Personally, I felt like the only difference was the size and price. The size of each cut was quite small about the size and length of two fingers but for a hefty sum, as compared elsewhere. If you 're looking to try Kobe beef at least once while you 're in Kobe, I recommend going here. It was an thoroughly enjoyable experience but going once is probably enough for me. If you 're looking for a bang for your buck, this is probably not the place for you.
Incredible beef- for anyone wanting to try not just good Kobe beef but also other cuts, a variety of beef and learn more about the differences between them- this is the place. The service was great, the other veg and rice dishes were delicious and excellent ambiance. An amazing way to discover the real flavors of beef in Japan.
Wonderful experience. when entering the glass doors of the second floor we were greeted by a friendly staff member to confirm our Sunday evening meal reservation. a spacious L-shaped dining room, spacious by the Japanese standard of the second floor, led us to our table opposite the entrance. the personal was extremely good for our English and basic japaner and has even provided an English menu. we have decided to share the recommended two person meat course with an salad and rice. the meats were over delicious with the rich fat bud and thick cuts. the employees explained each cut to us and even gave suggestions to order. the wagyu sashimi was a welcome surprise to begin our succulent and bottom right debt pleasure of a meal. our meal saw us refining on various fat and slim cuts from the ribs on the gutter until we could not eat anymore. book their dinner reservations as it was busy relatiw and is sure that it is worth the trip and the price. much fun.
