Halbedels - Königswinter

My parents brought me here when I was a child for special occasions. It always came with a wow factor. Not only the food and the ambience, as well the experience, the service and the occasion and it became a tradition. I still love it. Now even more than before. Time becomes more precious and it isn’t only about the food but more about the time you spend with loved ones, the experience, while enjoying refined dishes, home grown and locally sourced. Prepared with love, passion and attention to detail. I could go on and on, I guess it is needless to say that the food in a restaurant which is decorated with one Michelin Star is exceptional, the service is personal and the ambience lovely. For me, it will be always a special place and I hope I will have many more opportunities to return to this amazing restaurant.

Its absolutely a 1 star restaurant. The menu is perfect. At least You have food to eat. And the preparation is art ! The people who serve you are stylish but they join you if you joke. The room is simply beautiful. So simply. I will travel only for a dinner 500 km to this restaurant !!! So really a jewel to travel for !

We visit them yesterday with very close friends and we speak English . I have to say that food was fantastic and wine as well. But the service. Till time we made our order we did have feeling that we are welcomed Since we did not order full menu atmosphere changed. No one was filling our water. Boone was filling wine. When water finished we did not get second bottle. Same with wine. Second half of or visit we sit upfront empty glasses. We where thinking about coffee but as no one visit us for 20+ minutes we ask for bill. This come immediately. We did have feelings that we are not welcome. Maybe because we speak English or as because we did not see friend for longer time and we were smiling. I just read some another reviews and look that we are not first with similar experience. Food was fantastic. Our friends are lovely and we did enjoy time with them. But this kind of service I never experience at my life. I have to say that our feeling was that other tables where getting correct service. Will are ready to spend our money but not at this restaurant

Eigentlich kann man es simpel zusammenfassen: Wir waren begeistert! Im Rahmen eines Kurztrips nach Bonn durften wir das Juni-Menu im Halbedel genießen. Wir haben jede Minute der immerhin 4 Stunden genossen. Das Restaurant ist in einer Villa angesiedelt, die Atmosphäre locker und fast schon familiär. Herr Halbedel erläutert persönlich jeden Gang. Seine Frau leitet den Service. Das Menü scheint monatlich zu wechseln und ist jeden Cent wert. Chapeau!

Fabulous food as always. Very disappointed with the service. Wine and water not refilled, when bottles were finished no query if more was required. Dishes not all served correctly (wrong side). Extremely long wait between courses (particularly with no wine or water). Two courses served with no wine or water in glasses at all. Not sure if this was because we are "foreigners". We were English speaking. Other tables received better service. One does not expect to have to ask for wine or water in a Michelin star restaurant and to then be told we shouldn't have the wine we had chosen (at their recommendation) as it would ruin the food. Very disappointing.
