The Bananas Bungalow - Krabi

Quite possibly the absolute highlight of what was in its own right a very memorable time in Thailand. We ended up staying here completely by chance, arriving in Krabi without a reservation anywhere. We hopped online and chose this place simply cause we liked the name. The taxi took us out of the city and into the rural surroundings of Thalane Bay. Wither you're going to and from the airport or in and out of the various surrounding towns your trip is always a meandering tour through the jungle and the towering karst mountains that dot the area. It is otherworldly. The bungalows are in a wonderfully quiet area, complete with its own mangrove forest and sandy bay perfect for swimming (and accessed by a boardwalk which cuts through the mangroves). Because of its location the night skies are bright and the area is occasionally visited by a troupe of monkeys. Guests get their own personal bungalow, complete with hammock for catching up on your reading/sleeping, and there's a communal dining area perfect for meeting people. Perhaps best of all however, the locals are on staff and make authentic Thai meals. The area is conveniently located almost equidistance from all of the different communities in the Krabi area that one would want to visit and the owner and his staff are incredibly friendly, and always able to arrange taxi service in and out of the many locales. We have already decided we'll be staying here again the next time we can make it out to Thailand. Trust me, this is exactly the kind of place that you were envisioning when you decided to travel down to Krabi.

Staying at Bananas was the highlight of our Thailand experience. Bananas is a quiet, peaceful escape from some of the busier tourist attractions. Located in a beautiful setting along the water, Bananas offers gorgeous views right off your front porch. I highly recommend spending the evenings watching the sunset from the dock. The whole staff is incredibly welcoming and super sweet. They help you arrange your daily activities which is incredibly helpful. Finally, the food is fantastic. I would 100% recommend staying here.

That was definitely one of the nicest places, where we ever stayed. At first we wanted to stay for one night, but we ended up staying for 3 nights and we definitely would have loved to stay longer too. The owner and the employee are very friendly and help you with everything. The bungalows are very nice, also the place is trying to be as eco-friendly as possible, for example: they use refillable water bottles and also they haven't cut down the mangroves like the place next to the bananas unfortunately did. The food at the restaurant is really delicious also the prices are fair and you can get nearly every meal in a vegan or vegetarian version. We did love the place! The only thing, that you might want to know is that there are two cats and five little dogs. They are friendly and we really liked them, but if you are scared of dogs, you maybe would fell uncomfortable as the dogs are usually running around.

Travelled there for a day trip. View is phenomenonal, you can walk far at low tide. It's peaceful and far from the action. One of the best sunset points in Krabi province

Amazing place to stay. We were in one of the bamboo bungalows and it was a great experience. The view from the dock is picture perfect and the beaches and activities around Thalane are very worth seeing. Very friendly and helpful staff, and the food is excellent. Just remember that it is far away from any modern amenities and it is akin to camping in some ways (but better) and you'll have good time.
