Bidra med feedbackAmazing experience... Even if you don't know anything about high!! I came to Glocal on the recommendation of a stranger I met in Kyoto (in the Kyoto Beer Lab by a colleague Aussie, a Sydney Sider recommended to visit Glocal and I am so glad that I listened to this man's recommendation. The owner, Nori, is so friendly and friendly he clearly wants to share his passion with the world. This bar is English friendly (Nori speaks Aussie English and very welcoming for foreigners not from the unpleasant and somewhat hidden location... This bar is worth looking for only the social aspect. In addition, there is a special tasting flight only for foreigners, so if you are new to high, you can try a variety and learn what you like. It was such a beautiful experience to try shochu and to hear about shochu from a local and also make friends with other local and international customers Nori is very personal and will each chat with each other in a bilingual Japanese/English mix in no time. I will recommend Glocal to anyone visiting Kyushu/Kumamoto.
If you want to try Japanese traditional Shochu, you should come here! Noriyuki-san who is owner of this bar can explain about shochu and history in English. Also he can recommend base on your taste profile. shoshu kumamoto 焼酎 熊本
THE place to equip your knowledge about shochu if you only have a short time on your trip to learn about this craft, or before you head out to southern Kyushu for any shocho tour. The owner Nori grew up in Kagoshima and is passionate about this art and culture. He will take you through a brief history of shochu, how to appreciate it (even with hot water). Definitely give a go for a flight to sample a few before choosing one to sip with. My biggest takeaway which is mainly my ignorance Japanese shochu is completely different from Korean soju! The bar is decent and cozy, very nice place for a good conversation.
Nori-san is the amazingly friendly and welcoming owner of this Shochu bar. He has over 86 types of Shochu from distilleries that he personally visited and studied at. His knowledge of each bottle is excellent and is able to give you a detailed description about the Shochu. Nori-san speaks excellent English as well, allowing him to communicate smoothly with customers. As an added bonus, the bar is non-smoking and therefore highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place with a great atmosphere and looking to learn about Shochu.
What a great experience. The bartender had a vast knowledge, but can also move conversations between the patrons with ease. Fluent in English and made great recommendations. Must visit in Kumamoto.
