Chao Chao Sanjo Kiyamachi - Kyoto

This was AMAZING! I arrived at 6:00 and waited for about 30 minutes to get to the restaurant. The gyozas were amazing, the staff super nice and the price performance unbeatable. Eat a light lunch and come early, you will not be disappointed.

Great taste and drinks on a special environment. Lunch time during the week is not busy at all. Very close to Pontocho Area for an after stroll.

The gyozas here were all honestly soooooo good and affordable! My favourite would have to be the shrimp and the original Chao Chao pork gyozas had 2 rounds of these! The gyozas were bite sized so they were not very filling, which allows you to try more types/flavours. All of them were fried to perfection with a thin crispy crust and a juicy filling. they also had a set menu for 2 with their bestselling gyozas which we didn’t get but on hindsight, should have gotten as we ordered around the same items a la carte. Definitely recommend!

Great pork gyoza thin pastry with juicy filling. The bonito fish sashimi side order was surprisingly very good, highly recommend. Nothing too special about the stuffed chicken wing, but it was nice to try.

Everything is delicious! The staff are very friendly and speak great English, which is helpful because my already limited Japanese gets worse after a few ¥500 Nikka and Coke highballs. The spicy green chili mayo is so good, you could put it on a shoe and I'd gladly eat it. Definitely must visit if you're in Kyoto!
