Blue Ocean Sushi - La Jolla

I used to love coming here. Their food is good but the portion sizes have gotten smaller. The picture on the left was from two years ago (06/17/2021) and the picture on the right was today. (07/31/2023) The service has always been slow and still is very slow. The menu used to be a lot bigger too but that has downsized as well.

This place is hidden jem; service is excellent, ramen delicious and authentic, and prices are affordable. The wait might be long but worth it.

Went there for lunch and their lunch specials are very good! For $24 you can get 4 pieces of nigiri and a sushi roll. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. For $16 you get a bowl of ramen and a side. I got the fatty duck ramen which was very rich and savory.The side I got was recommended by a friend: vegetable pot stickers. Very unique and the best thing we ate there. They're a cool green color and have crunchy taro and microgreens on top. And that sauce is so good that we drank it from the bowl.

High quality food for a fair La Jolla price. The character buns are absolutely worth it (try the matcha)!

Went there on Saturday before rush 11:30am for seaside table.. $15 Valet parking in front of restaurant to make it easier. OMG, character buns are cute and yummy. Don't wait too long to eat it. Will be back soon for another mother and daughter day.
