Rod Inn is a delightful hidden gem of a Chinese restaurant located in La Mesa. The service is excellent, and the food is fantastic! As a vegetarian with specific preparation requests, I've found them to be accommodating and attentive to my needs. I highly recommend the Buddha's Medallions to everyone! Additionally, Chopsticks Inn offers the option to prepare any dish using "fake meat."

From the warm welcome to the cozy decor, this restaurant exudes a sense of hospitality. The hostess greets everyone like old friends, and she also served as our attentive and playful waitress, delighting my 5-year-old daughter. It was truly a pleasure to dine here. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. We shared Hot and Sour Soup, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Kung Pao Chicken. Each dish was fresh, with balanced flavors, though none stood out as the best I've ever had. However, the good food and excellent service certainly make it a place worth returning to. The menu offered a wonderful variety, catering to vegetarians and sushi lovers, as well as a full Chinese menu. Even better, there were plenty of American food options, making it appealing for less adventurous eaters. I look forward to trying more dishes in the future.

The best Chinese restaurant in the county! Anna, the owner, is a meticulous cook and a great instructor to her kitchen staff; each dish is delightful and has its own unique flavor. The menu has been updated to include a complete Japanese section featuring sushi, tempura, teriyaki, udon noodles, and more, as well as Thai specialties. There's also a fully vegetarian menu that offers delicious options for nearly every dish on the regular menu, utilizing healthy protein substitutes. Anna takes the time to assist you in navigating the menu and choosing your dishes, ensuring you receive a complementary selection of meals. This place is perfect for larger group dinners, parties, and events, as they have two full dining areas available.
