We ordered the oysters on the half shell, but when they arrived, they didn't look appealing and were difficult to detach from the shell. The few we managed to eat had bits of shell in them. We decided to ask for our check and leave after returning the oysters. Unfortunately, no one came to our table to apologize. Great customer service, everyone. Being in the restaurant business ourselves, we know what good service entails, so well done. We don't plan on returning for a long time, if ever, and we will share our experience with others.

I had dinner at C.J. Avery's last year while visiting New Hampshire over Columbus Day weekend. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, and the service was outstanding. We’ll definitely be returning soon. It’s not a noisy, rowdy bar; just a lot of happy people enjoying cold drinks and delicious meals.
Everything was great! The steak fries were delicious, but the portion size was a bit small.
The prime rib and stuffed shrimp are awesome. My kids insist on going there when they visit,
