The Islander is gone and now open under the name Blue Herron the new menu is great and so is the food and staff.
I come here almost every Tuesday with my husband for a drink. Fluffy is so friendly. She always remembers our drinks of choice and our names. The food here is pretty great also!
My husband and I decided to try you out this past Saturday night. It was slightly busy, but not too bad. We were seated in the other room beside the bar. In my opinion, unless table cloths are changed for every customer, they really shouldn't be used because they can't be cleaned between each customer. The one at our table was sticky and disgusting, as was the salt/pepper shaker...all sticky. Also, just in general the rest of the place is just really dusty and doesn't appear to be clean. When the front is dirty like that, I can only imagine how the kitchen looks. We waited for quite a while for our food to be served, but the food was good. I had the black bean burger and my husband had the club sandwich. We had asked for ketchup and she brought it and not soon after someone came by and grabbed it before we had a chance to use it and took it to another table. Also, once the food was brought that was it other than bringing the check which took forever! If I was rating on the food alone I'd have rated 5 stars, but unfortunately for me, it takes more than that for me to return to a restaurant.
I came here an afternoon in September. Today actually, right now, actually. It's 2:30. Never been here before, but the village deli close by was closed and I was really craving that shredded chicken salad. On a buttery croissant with a beer. Strange combination I know but rest assured it's Tuesday, and I just got back my under par score from my exam in econ and so I decided to treat myself to my craving and a beer. Boy was I let down when the deli was closed. My hopes and dreams, out the window. But I noticed the islanders sports bar nearby and decided to give it a go. The deli didn't have beer anyway. Maybe it was fate hat I drink that beer. I go in. Dark bar which had like 10 people in there. Ask the lady at the bar for a menu and if I can sit outside. I'm digging the dark atmosphere of the bar. One of those small town wooded bars that makes you feel just at home and safe and comforted. I'm so surprised and Happy to see exactly what I was craving, on the menu, WORD FOR WORD. Chicken salad on buttery croissant roll with lettuce and tomato. It was one of those times where you just feel in the right place at the right time and you on your life path. This was one of those times. And I got a blue moon. Life made. Don't judge me. Needless to say. Got the food. Was hot and fantastic. Photo attached try this place. I'll be back
