Bidra med feedbackThis is one of my favorite places to eat in Lafayette Parking: Winwood Shopping center on Johnson behind Mel's Diner across from Moncus Park
The service was excellent. The atmosphere of the restaurant was on par with others of its ilk. The food was sub par. The buffet items were bland and watery. The egg drop soup had a flavor hidden in the background that I could not figure out. It was somewhat unpleasant. The fried rice was bland. The noodles were severely overcooked. The ribs were decent. They were tangy and possessed just the right amount of chewiness without being tough. The egg rolls and wonton were good. The desert items were stale. I could tell that the customers that were there were loyal.
I have not had Chinese food in years because I cannot have MSG. It gives me migraines, sometimes seizures. I called ahead and asked if they could do vegetable lo mein without MSG and they were so nice and accomodating. The food, which will last two days, was amazing. The egg rolls rock! Thank you for bringing Chinese food back into this girl's life!
Food was either reheated leftovers or just bad cuts of meat. The service is slow because there are only 2 people on staff and they can't keep up. The customers that were there spoke ignorantly about politics regurgitating talking points fed to them by news stations.
The restaurant was clean and the furniture serviceable, but if you're looking for an intimate or upscale atmosphere you'd be better off elsewhere. However, if your goal is delicious, authentic Chinese food, this is most definitely the place to eat. Another bonus: They make their own egg rolls in-house. The owner is friendly and engaging, and I got to meet a few fellow goodies who happened to be checking out the restaurant. I will absolutely eat here again.
