Growlinggator - Lambton Shores

Was in grand bend for 2 weeks, went to the growling gator at least 4 times, very beachy atmosphere and the food and drink specials were great and the waiters n waitresses were very attentive and fast! free parking in the back lot always a bonus down main street, also a great spot to just sit and have a drink and watch all the throngs of people walking down the strip and to the beach! try it out, you wont be disappointed!

This is our number one favourite place in Grand Bend. It's as close to the beach as you could possibly get, and be in a restaurant -- it's across the street from the glorious beach.We've been there about 4 times already this season.It's a busy place - lots of attractive servers - lots of people of all ages.The food is terrific, service is great, the owners are there all the time, so it's a hands-on operation.Portions are very generous (maybe a little too generous, especially the desserts!!)The ambiance is great. There's an outside part with umbrellas against the sun, and an inside section. There's a bar too.It's always casual dress at the 'Gator. And, they have their own private parking lot behind the restaurant. There's Greek food as well as Canadian/American food on the menu.My wife says that their Quesadillas are the very best anywhere.There's really a very wide choice of appetizers and entrees. Leave room (ahem!!) for dessert.

I recently grabbed lunch and a drink at this bar while spending time at the beach. The Growling gator is a good spot to grab a drink if you want a typical beach bar, and want a break from the beach!Let's be honest, you're not coming here for the food. The food is an average mix of pub specialties - natchos, burgers, wraps, salads and a few more items. It is average quality but does the job.The beers are cold and the wait staff are friendly. I had the sangria which didn't seem to have any alcohol in it so be careful of that, but order something that comes with a seal (like a beer) and you'll be fine.The atmosphere was really great as the whole bar is open-air, so there is a nice breeze that floats in as you enjoy you drink and meal.If you found this review helpful please say so below. Great to see this place turn things around. Staff worked hard to keep the flow of service going; in all areas. The owner and management staff on the floor were engaged with the customers. Very surprised and pleased with the food. Wasn't 5 star food. But definitely a 5 star experience. Well done Gator's. Keep it up! May come back in the spring for some summer employment. Cheers!

Very good pub food. A bit slow for service as when busy. Food was very good for what we all had. Nice being near the beach and outside yet sheltered.
