The Norseman At L'anse Aux Meadows And Art Gallery

I was completely surprised by my experience at this restaurant at the tip of Newfoundland. It truly is a premium dining destination. We started with the moose dumplings, which were fantastic. My wife chose the lobster ravioli, and it was bursting with flavor. For our main courses, we had the duck confit and the seared cod. The cod was light and delicious, and the combination of duck with turnip gratin was outstanding. We ended our meal by sharing a slice of rum cake, which came drizzled with a mix of molasses, screech, and butter, topped with a dollop of whipped cream—what a delightful finish! The restaurant offers beautiful views of the ocean, where we could see two small icebergs floating serenely nearby. If you're in the area, make sure not to miss this hidden gem!

What a breathtaking location with fantastic, friendly staff and DELICIOUS food! I highly recommend dining here and sampling all the special dishes. Go all out! We had a wonderful dinner at the Norseman. We began with exquisite lobster house ravioli. My halibut was fresh and flavorful, marinated in lemon zest and topped with nettle pesto, and it came with a lovely medley of lightly roasted beets, turnips, and zucchini. My children loved their duck confit and roasted chicken. The service was friendly, and the cove view added to the perfection of our evening, which concluded with a leisurely walk at sunset along the low tide rocks to a sea cave. Thank you for a memorable evening!

This place is a true gem out in the far-flung reaches of the Great Northern Peninsula. We were longing to dine at a good restaurant after spending a few days traveling were delighted to have found The Norseman. Attentive staff, excellent, fresh, homemade cuisine, white tablecloths, cocktails, wine, etc. The fresh fish local shrimp chowder was perfect, as were the panko-crusted chicken sandwiches the desserts. Even the coffee was good. We loved it! Recommend.
