Bruxelles Café - Lausanne

The beer selection is great and the place is always busy. Mitraillette and mussels were ok, more bar food style then fine dining. Decor inside is very traditional and clientele is really from all ages and backgrounds.

We were a party of six and having just visited the Museum of Fine Arts in the city centre we were looking for a restaurant for lunch. Bearing in mind it was 2 pm on a Saturday this might have been a problem. We crossed the square and the first eating place we saw was full. However, Le Bruxelles Cafe next door had a manager who knew how to welcome guests. He quickly grouped some tables together and we were seated perusing menus with an attentive waitress ready to help. Our drinks were served in really nice glasses and lunches followed without much delay. My beef Carbonade was delicious, stewed steak in an ale gravy, served with chips and freshly baked bread. The others in the party thoroughly enjoyed their meals of either chicken wraps or hamburgers as well.

I have visited here twice in the past month, both with a friend who loves mussels. He says they are great. I’m not a fan of mussels but I do like good beer, which Bruxelles has a great selection. I hav e not needed reservations when dining early in the week, but do call ahead of dining on a Friday or Saturday.

The bruxelles cafe offers great ambiance and food. Make sure to have reservations as this place is full for their 2 for 1 tapas from 6 pm to 7pm.

Place offers number of different beers and you can always try something new - really like it! Food is good, nice burgers and mitraillette, like their tapas choice (tho it could be a bit bigger) and moules were very nice!i like the atmosphere and the tables are spacious enough, which is good! Although sometimes in the evenings it is too crowded and you have to wait if you haven't reserved a table in advance.
