Wonderful stay at Hotel-Restaurant Wardland! Karin and Markus are great hosts, and they assisted us in all the information we required in enjoying Isenfluh. We enjoyed the meals, and the attentiveness to our entire stay. We had a tremendous time snow sledding down the mountain. The views are just spectacular. I look forward in coming back and wringing the Swiss Cow Bells to treat guests for a drink!

The Jungfrau Region is truly beautiful but all of the major locations are just so busy with tourists Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg, Grindelwald, Pfingstegg etc. Do yourself a favour and escape to Isenfluh and this wonderful restaurant experience a lovely lunch, outside on their terrace in the serene, peaceful and picturesque hamlet high above Lauterbrunnen with direct views across to Wengen on the other side of the valley just what we were searching for! Ok, this is only the third review and the previous reviewer has clearly had a rotten experience in 2014. But we can confirm that our visit in August 2015 was lovely. The Waldrand is the only restaurant in this tiny farming hamlet of Isenfluh, accessible only by car through an amazing circular tunnel which actually doubles back over itself (according to our SatNav and a series of switchback hairpin bends. Or there 's an infrequent Postbus. And that 's the unique nature of Isenfluh it 's peaceful and far, far away from the big tourist bus groups (the buses won 't make it through the tunnel ! Park in the little car park (modest fee, cash only or in the restaurant 's own car park if that 's the sole purpose of your visit. Enjoy a stroll before visiting the restaurant and spending 1 2hrs for lunch. The menu is decent, prices slightly lower than the usual syndicate pricing across the rest of the valley and the quality is good. This appears to be a husband wife operation. I don 't think they speak extensive English but it doesn 't matter our broken German was good enough and I think they appreciated our efforts (and we got what we ordered! . Remember that away from the busy tourist traps the staff may be a little less 'sassy ' but they are warm and friendly in a sincere, authentic way. We had one of the best Rosti ever! And we tried a good number on this holiday. The terrace is good, toilets very clean and the best bit.......the Chef (I think it 's the Husband brings your dishes out to you in his full Chef outfit (see picture . And, you know what, he cares about his business and is keen to demonstrate that I like that! In some ways this was better than many of the other restaurants we visited in the Jungfrai Region. Yes, others are more upmarket, have a more extensive menu or perhaps more dramatic views from their outside terraces. But when we visited The Waldrand on a sunny Thursday afternoon we discovered some Swiss charm just the way we imagined it really should be. And there was a good vibe about the place and the few visitors too. As an aside, you could make this part of a day trip for your hiking. There 's a quaint cable car in Isenfluh, take it to the top station, do some walking and then stop at the Waldruind for some well earned recovery food drinks. Not high cuisine, not cosmopolitan and not busy but really quite special. Try it if you have a car to get there and fancy escaping from the crowd the perfect antidote after a trip to the Jungfrau on a busy sunny day! Recommended by us and we loved it. Going back for sure!

After a long day of hiking with the family, we ended at the Waldrand (08AUG14) for a few drinks and maybe icecream. We were completly ignored by the waitress, for no reason. We left after 15 minutes, without having had a drink.

Freundliche Restaurantbesitzer mit gutem Essen auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. . tolle Aussichten sehr landschaftlich. . tolle kurvenreiche Straße durch das Innere des Berges. . super Zimmer, sehr sauber und regelmäßige Busverbindungen. .
