Bidra med feedbackIt's always a risk going back to somewhere you have cherished memories of - especially when we decided to do the long, long drive from over by Castres.It was worth it.Unbelievably, Sam - the owner - remembered us from our visits a year ago, and made us very welcome. The food was as good as last year; the friendly atmosphere equally so. As I said in my review in 2016, Sam is passionate about good food and wine. This does not mean the food is 'fancy', far from it, it is good, wholesome, honest grub, all served with a genuine smile.This is a special place - go out of your way to find it and enjoy it,
After a hot and dusty visit to Cirque de Navacelles we drove our motorhome back a short distance to Blandas. The restaurant had a great set lunch menu - I had poulet en bleu causses and himself had an 'amazing' dish of stuffed sheep feet - well he loved it!! Service was superb, even tho they had a busy lunch service going on. Sam was full of chat and a great host. If you're in the area, book a table!
We found this Auberge online the night before visiting the Cirque de Navacelles, and are very pleased we did. On a breezy October day the 16€50 3-course menu was a much better choice than a picnic. There was a good selection of local dishes, all well-cooked and attractively served in generous portions. The restaurant was busy with a varied clientele of tourists, cyclists and walkers and the service was professional and friendly.
We had lunch here on the first Monday of our week in the area, and were made very welcome by Sam. The restaurant was noisy, but in a good way, with a lovely vibe. Sam's English helped our rather rusty French, and the food was excellent. We ended up coming back three times through the week, once for coffee, once for lunch, and once for dinner on our last night. The food is simple, but subtly good; punchy flavours, good portions and all served with Sam's great sense of humour. He is the perfect host - attentive without being pushy - and the place seemed to be visited by many locals which is always a good sign. There was good chat between the tables too. Silly cheap for the quality and quantity of food too. Sam is passionate about the food, and it shows. (Of course, Virginie is doing the real magic in the kitchen, so she deserves a mention too!). Thanks for making us so welcome.
This is by far my favorite local restaurant in this area. The owners are very dedicated and you can tell that they love to make people happy, and what a better way, but to feed us. The type of cuisine is local and more of a rustique flair, but it is the most comforting food you can get. The quality of produce is exquisit and after going there a few times already, it has become my point to invite my parents there every few months.
