Fantastic! Amazing breakfast burritto and shrimp cocktail. Right off the 5 freeway and worth the stop!!
My friend and I were on our way back home from a long weekend trip when we ended up needing gas. After finding our station of choice we spotted this Mexican restaurant nearby and just off the freeway. The exterior looked like a family owned business that has been around for a long time. And the interior was your average divey style decor with that old fashion diner feel. We were taken to a booth that faced the kitchen covered with wall menus and daily specials. The menus had a lot of delicious looking selections making it hard to chose. But I finally decided on their Breakfast Burrito vegetarian with egg and a Diet Pepsi. My friend ordered Menudo and El Pastor street tacos. When our dishes arrived, I was impressed at the amount of food we were given. I really enjoyed my burrito and could barely finish it, but I made it to the end! My girlfriend also seemed to like her meal, along with fresh, warm tortillas, and a variety of condiments to add to her food. There was so much there to eat, she ended up taking her soup to go. We were pleasantly full and felt better about getting back on the busy highway even though the weather started turning bad. At least we were no longer tired and hungry, and had more energy to brave the elements! And by the way, about an hour later, we ended up spinning off the road when a hail storm hit us! Luckily, the menudo stayed in tact, sealed tightly in it 's container! Otherwise I couldn 't imagine what kind of a mess it would have made inside the car! Thank goodness we survived!
My boyfriend and I both ordered burritos, and they were excellent! The service was friendly as well. I would definitely choose this place over the fast food options nearby.
The restaurant is currently not offering indoor dining due to the pandemic, but there are two outdoor tables—one for four people and another for two. Inside, you'll find paper menus posted at the counter. Be sure to pay in cash to avoid an additional 3.5% fee on credit and debit card transactions. The staff is friendly, but keep in mind that restrooms are closed to the public. We ordered burritos filled with rice, beans, salsa, and our choice of meat. I had the shredded beef burrito priced at $8.75. It had good flavor and a spicy salsa; overall, it was a solid burrito, though nothing particularly remarkable. My companion, however, discovered a piece of string in his burrito—similar to what meat is often tied with before cooking—which was an unpleasant surprise. I also tried the lengua burrito for $8.99. It had a mild flavor that wasn't overpowering, and while the salsa was not spicy, it did have a slight tingle. Unfortunately, my burrito was quite soggy and dripped juices, making it a messier meal than expected if you plan to eat it on the go. Definitely bring extra napkins or wipes! One thing I noticed about both burritos is that they are wrapped in very thin aluminum foil. Since they cut the burritos in half, bits of foil got stuck inside, so be careful to remove these before you eat. Additionally, the burritos are on the smaller side and a bit pricey for the portion sizes. Overall, it's an acceptable place for a quick lunch while passing through the area. Personally, I probably won't return, largely due to the experience with the string in the food and the price. However, the flavors were decent!
