Wharfzazate - Lège-Cap-Ferret

I've never recounted my experience of a hotel through the lens of price, because normally it really doesn't matter that much – particularly for once-off visits. I genuinely don't mind paying extra for great food, special service or unforgettable experiences, because ultimately you'll remember them far longer than you'll remember the extra tenner you ended up shelling out. But in this case, we paid through the nose and got none of the above. Wharfzazate seems to be very conscious of the fact that it has a near-monopoly on this area, and this is reflected through all aspects of the business. Charging €10 for a beer is not okay, charging €7 for water is not okay, charging €94 for duck with chips, vegetables and rice, and three drinks is really not okay. And it just wouldn't happen if other nearby options were available – but what can you do? They did go to great effort to get through the language barrier and provide an option for my wife (who is coeliac and vegetarian – always a challenge in France! and the setting on the Port du Vigne is very nice, particularly for drinks before dinner. But ultimately, and very unusually, the price is going to dictate our memory of this very average spot.

Great evening, dining at Wharfzazate on the port of Vigne in Cap-Ferret. The place is very well decorated, as if you were in Morocco, and the food is just fantastic! Huge choice of wine, as you are in the region of Bordeaux. Great service, with speed and smiles.

Lived from the place and residing in the year on the peninsula we particularly appreciate the quality of the dishes offered by an out-of-pocket chef. This evening did not deviate from previous ones and it was a feast of taste buds. One flat... A small glass of peanuts to accompany 2 cups of champagne... it’s a little petty and unworthy of the quality of the served dishes. A simple tapnade with grilled bread would already be the mark of a qualitative minimum reached elsewhere. Notwithstanding, we will be pleased to return very quickly by perhaps making the economy of the aperitif.

Despite an error on my part on resa internet we were able to stay and we were able to enjoy ourselves in this very nice place...very good cuisine...thank you all for the reorganization of the tables to allow us to discover you
