Bidra med feedbackBeautiful hotel located right in town! The level of service is top-notch, rooms are clean, property is wonderful. Lots of different areas to hang out in. They have books and games available and an old-timey bar. Got cookies at check-in!
The property itself is very nice, charming, and well maintained. It is located right off the Main Street, which was perfect for wandering in town. It was also close to the nearby Tanglewood music venue, which is a great experience. The staff was all very welcoming and friendly. We loved their use of texting to make contacting the “front desk” easier. The rooms were very clean, very nice. Our room was a bit smaller than expected. We weren’t expecting anything grand, but there wasn’t a lot of room around our queen sized bed. The TV system is nice once you figure it out, but it seemed a bit complex for less tech savvy guests. Basically, they just have an Apple TV for you to use, instead of live TV. The downsides for us were value and noise. I understand weekend pricing will be higher than weekdays, but this was the most expensive lodging of our 2 week trip, and we easily got the least for what we paid. It felt priced for people who had no other choice, or didn’t know better, which we fell into. And for that high price, we didn’t even get a good night’s sleep. The building is old, which usually means loud, creaky, and thin walls. Other guests were loud in the hallways until early morning hours, but we weren’t going to call the after hours phone number and wake someone up just for this. And confronting another guest didn’t seem like the right thing either. Overall, it’s a nice place in a nice location with nice people, I am just wary of the value for what you pay.
It was hard to find the entrance and there was very little parking. We had to park in front of the dumpster which meant my husband had to move the car later. There were still no spots at 11pm (restaurant staff? , so he had to get up early the next morning. The innkeeper was not there when we arrived and the folks at Max were not happy that we asked if we were in the correct place. Website is deceiving. Much of the public space is actually attached to the restaurant and hard to use if not dining. It was very loud as we were over the restaurant as well. Need to update the website as we were unsure about breakfast and Ophelia 's is no longer there. Bed was lovely as was the bathroom. No place to put a suitcase and no full length mirror. TV was extremely unintuitive. I would probably try one of the other properties next time.
The Whitlock offers a perfect location right in the heart of Lenox , lovely rooms, great character. The outdoor space is beautiful. Can't wait to come back. We're hoping they'll offer morning coffee next time!
Now that I have experienced a stay in your inn (see below receipt), I do not know how you could justify a Friday nightly rate of $771. I have reviewed availability on other Friday nights in July and August at your inn and your nightly rates do not even come close to $771. Most are approximately 50% or less. If your hotel had lived up to a rate almost equivalent to a stay at a Ritz or Four Seasons, I would never had questioned this rate. Here are the unexpected disappointments that were never disclosed when we booked the room: 1. No assistance getting our bags from our car in your parking lot to our second floor room. And, of course, no elevator. Not so great for 70+ year olds with medical problems. 2. Mostly unstaffed front desk. 3. No phones in the room. 4. While there was a large television in the room, you could only access it through Apple TV. Therefore, there was no access to regular television or cable news. 5. Very limited access times to the restaurant and bar. 6. No pen or paper. Wanted to leave housekeeping a t=note and a tip. No note, just a tip. 7. No clock. I recognize the charm, location and quaintness of the Whitlock, but it is not worth over $700 per night, particularly when the night before was $265. On a positive note, the limited staff are very pleasant.
