The Drill - Lichfield

I booked a table for adults and babies and told The Drill on booking that we would need high chairs. When I arrived they said they only had high chairs and of them were in use. This left only chair for our table. We therefore could not eat the drill as they did not have sufficient seats for our booking. They offered us nothing to say sorry. Disgusting service.

I have dined at The Drill several times and have always found the food to be excellent value for the price. The meals, whether from the daily special menu or the regular menu, are always delicious. The service is great and the staff are friendly and accommodating. It's a charming countryside spot for a meal, whether it be lunch or dinner.

I visited this restaurant with my family and other guests. The waiter took our drink orders, which was fine. However, after a few minutes, we had to go to the bar ourselves to pick up our drinks because they were left standing and going flat. Our food order was taken, but after an hour and some minutes, our food arrived. The fish and batter were burnt to a crisp, the worst I have ever seen. I couldn't believe the chef let this leave the kitchen, and why the waiter brought it to our table is beyond me. My steak, which I ordered medium, was overcooked and well done. The pepper sauce arrived minutes later. The food was shocking and not cheap. I will never return to this place again. The chef really needs to consider changing careers. I use the term "chef" lightly in this case.

We opted for the set menu two people, three courses for twenty pound. the food was fresh wholesome, although gaps inbetween courses were a little slow. the clientel and food was excellent well worth the wait. Generous portions for a set menu, the service was...good and friendly especially chad behind the bar/waiter.
