Black's Barbecue Lockhart

Did not know Lockhart is the capital of BBQ. It was really interesting that you can smell the smell of BBQ from anywhere near the city center. We followed the signs that took us to one of the oldest BBQ places in the area. Honestly, I'm not a food critic and I don't have the taste buds to make an assessment on the quality of the food. The BBQ tasted the same as any other BBQ establishment I have been to. The brisket and ribs I make in my pellet smoker tastes the same. There were a lot of sides and they were all delicious. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. We took our food with us because we were on the way home from San Antonio back to the Fort Hood area. The restaurant was very welcoming and had the BBQ restaurant feel. I thought the prices were a little high, but I think that's because I smoke briskets and ribs for my family. What we paid for our food, I could have bought two prime quality briskets. But, if you don't smoke your own meat, I recommend Black's BBQ at Lockhart.

Our overall experience was good. We loved the Mac n Cheese. I liked the brisket, ribs, chicken and sausage but where they seasoned it on outside it was dried out and tough. We also thought if we would have gotten it hot it would have made the flavors pop more. Our food was cool. If I revisit then I will make sure it is super hot before ordering. Meal type: Lunch

Pit master didn 't change his gloves when he left from behind the counter into the dining room touching the front door, railings, putting his gloved hands in his front pockets then he came to cut my brisket with the dame gloves on I had to stop him and tell him to change those filthy gloves that he cross contaminated with. I spoke to a manager after they read my Yelp review he seemed not too overly concerned that it didn 't happen, but it did. My family has eaten here for over 100 years, and this is what happens after the old heads are gone. I will eat @Terry Blacks BBQ from now on cleaner and nicer.
