L'opera Italian - Long Beach

Stone’s throw from the Convention Center and a great experience for a smaller group!

My wife and I went to L'Opera to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were greeted by the hostess acknowledging our anniversary which was noted on the reservation. The restaurant was specious with subtle lighting and nicely arranged dinning space. Our table was in a semi-private area which was nice. It was set up for 4 people which was a little weird but later in service the server removed the extra utensils and glasses. Our server was great! The food was fresh and tasty but nothing special about it. For me the ambiance was not the best for the occasion as I learned the opera singer is only there on Fridays and Saturdays and there was no music in the background. You could only hear people talking. There was also nothing special done for our wedding anniversary, like a champagne toast, a special dessert. Other establishments of similar price range have really gone out of their way to WOW during special occasions like this. Based on this, I think the restaurant is slightly overpriced. Our meal came to $200 (without tips). I would have expected an elevated experience.

It was our Anniversary and what a perfect choice. The restaurant is elegant and beautifully appointed. The tables are lovely. The service especial our waiter- Alex was outstanding. The food was fabulous and beautifully served. Our main course was veal scallopine and rigatoni in vodka sauce both were delicious. We started with their special salad which was excellent. Even the bread and olive mixture was fabulous. It is a lovely restaurant to dine and enjoy the evening. We had said it was our anniversary but we were too full for dessert. When the waiter brought the check he also brought 2 beautifully prepared containers of chocolate covered strawberries and whipped cream. That was such a thoughtful touch.

Great service, amazing food and didn’t have to wait forever for food
