Kampai Sushi House - Los Alamitos

Very fresh food always!! Your fresh vegetables with rice chicken or shrimp....my friends always have your fresh shrimp roll!

$16.00 for 2 oz. of salmon and a majority rice roll with a smidge of spicy tuna...okay.

I was so disappointed with my visit today. This is about the service and not the food. We come here allll the time. I 've probably been here 20 times because we love the food. I took my friend, who I haven 't seen in months, here for the first time. We were seated at 4:55pm. The server seemed annoyed and she was rushing us from the start even though it was early and they weren 't crowded whatsoever, but that wasn 't a big deal. We ended up figuring out our order somewhat quickly. Fast forward we finish eating and are just visiting and talking and finishing our drinks. Another girl brings the check and is like take your time. About 10 minutes goes by and we hadn 't paid yet because, again, we were catching up and told to take our time. So another guy comes up to us and picks up our check and hands it to us saying can you pay? We have a line of people waiting! I was honestly so caught off guard. Mind you it was 5:50pm at this point so we hadn 't even been there an hour!! I could totally understand if we were taking our sweet time, but that was not the case. None the less we pay and decide to leave since we were basically being kicked out. As we were waking out I looked and NOT A SINGLE PERSON was waiting to be seated. My friend was like oh ya I saw a couple groups waiting but they got sat. Anyway, it just rubbed us completely the wrong way and put a really sour taste in my mouth. Which is unfortunate because I love this restaurant but that was so incredibly rude. Not to mention I was excited to introduce my friend to this place and it was not a good first impression for her. Total bummer and just wanted to share my experience in the event management/the owner saw this and could coach the staff to not rush people out when they haven 't even been there an hour and no wait..

This is one of my long time lunchtime work go-tos. It's delicious, I recommend the bento box for an all around selection of food offerings, soup, and salad. The service is fast, which is great because they are always packed, which should tell you everything else you need to know!

Kampai is a local favorite sushi spot, and for all the right reasons! Although we no longer live is Los Alamitos, we make sure to visit every time we are in the area. Great sushi. Great appetizers. Great drinks. And all for a reasonable price! We love everything from their sashimis to rolls to their fried appetizers. Their sushi is always fresh and great quality. The place gets busy, but we are always able to find a table, no problem. The staff is always friendly, and the restaurant has your typical casual sushi vibe. Came over the weekend with my family, and enjoyed their sashimi platter, rolls, and gyoza. Finished with their mochi ice cream as we always do. Always consistently a great place for sushi.
