Bidra med feedbackStayed at the Seelbach and ate the breakfast offered to Honors members. It was low grade dog food. The eggs were powered scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy had no flavor. Potatoes were over seasoned. Bread box had fruit flies in it. And the staff hovered over us like we were going to steal the silverware, very creepy. We didn't eat here the rest of our stay- we paid to eat out. This place should be shut down
Overpriced complete joke. Our Hilton Diamond credit won't even cover this expanded Hampton Inn bfast ...and by expanded I mean they serve more than one meat on a Sunday.
Thought it would be the standard, quality Hilton breakfast this morning, but oh no. Buffett only. No problem. No breakfast tea. Eggs smelled like fish. And the sausage was burned to black. They need to overhaul what they are doing here.
I'm not sure how two spaces separated by a single door can be so different. The lobby of the Seelbach is ornate, classical, and inspired. Through the door into Gatsby's on 4th and all of that is blindingly stripped away and a simple restaurant with a buffet on portable tables is all that's left. This could be literally anywhere. It was not what I expected given that it bears the name of the character that the hotel inspired, one who is wealthy, entertaining, and a fixture of American literature. No one is going to be writing a book based on this place. White walls with sparse decoration. Some interesting sconces. Its plain. Its boring. But hey, not everything has to inspire a novel, right? We visited for breakfast, not knowing it was a buffet. We probably would have kept looking had it not been so cold, but for $20 a person, it should be OK. It certainly wasn't great, but it was OK. Service, especially for a buffet, is remarkably attentive. There's not a lot for them to do, but the two women working were well-dressed, friendly, and helpful. Food was... hmmm... So, there's not a wide selection. There are a couple of tables with what is essentially an expanded continental breakfast on one and some hot options on the other. I passed on the cereal and oatmeal and went straight for the other. The eggs seemed like they came from powdered supply, the biscuits were definitely thaw and heat, the gravy was a good consistency but lacked flavor. The sausage, bacon and home fries all had good flavor! The beverage station has a selection of a couple of juices, black coffee and decaf, water, and three types of black tea and decaf. Gatsby's is a good option if you're on an expense account and need a quick meal at your hotel before heading out.
I have had the free Continental breakfast at many hotels that exceeded what was offered for breakfast here for $19.95. We should be getting real eggs (and not the fake egg product stuff that comes in a plastic vat) for $19.95. Do we not deserve this at least? Everything was gross, except of course for the boxed cereals, which you really can't mess up. All the food was very sad looking and not fresh. Baby and wife wouldn't eat anything. J. graham cafe down the street is much better if you're looking for food prepared by actual humans and not pre-prepared, microwaved, Faux-food. Such a disappointment considering the historic nature of the hotel. I bet for the majority of the hotel's history they served excellent food. Sadly not anymore. Please get your act together, if only out of respect for this hotel.
