Mockingbird Hunter Valley - LOVEDALE

I loved Mockingbird in Hamilton and was hoping I'd love this location equally, but I didn't have as good an experience. I ordered takeway on my way back to Newie and the staff shuffled me from counter to counter. When I eventually ordered, I asked if they have oat milk for my coffee (and understood if they didn't), to which they said they don't because it's not gluten free and would contaminate the machine. Instead they offered regular milk, almond milk, or soy milk. I went with almond milk but then wondered why they weren't so concerned about people with nut or soy or lactose allergies. It was a strange excuse for not offering oat milk, I felt like I was being spoken down to, rather than simply saying they didn't have it but had other non-dairy options. Aside from this, the wait for takeway wasn't too long. But we were glad not to have dined in because we weren't so keen on the brief interactions we did have. The grounds and venue were very nice though, great view and atmosphere.

We had a great experience at Mockingbird. Despite it being very busy, we were served promptly and got our food quickly. Everything was delicious! Rated 5 out of 5. Firstly, met by happy vibrant staff. Menu looked very interesting with various flavours and spices, all dishes were magnificently presented and ate as good if not better than they looked. We had scallops, prawns, barramundi, broccolini and finished with a magnificent pavlova. It was clear not only did the chef create fantastic dishes, he also spent time buying the best fresh produce and seafood to create the masterpieces we enjoyed so much.
