They have a great selection of Asian food, and their Kiwi cake is also remarkable. I highly recommend trying the seafood laksa; it's the best I've had!
"The coffee at this place can be quite expensive, but I appreciate the diverse flavors from around the world. Aotearoa truly has something special to offer. Looking forward to visiting again soon!"
This is a typical high street café offering tea. They have a good variety of food in their display cabinet, though I didn’t try anything from the menu, so I can't speak to that. The staff were friendly when we arrived just before closing time and didn't rush us at all.
Let's start with the venue. It is clean and the dining space is big. The facilities are also clean. The food: the fish and chips are one of the best that I've ever tried. Comes with two crumbed fish, a good serving of chips, tartar sauce, wedge of lemon, and a good portion of salad. The presentation of the food is decent. I love the Vietnamese Ice Coffee. It is serve with condensed milk and ice. The slice of cakes (black forest, and chocolates) and sweets (custard) are yummy. The combination fried rice is also delicious. The only challenge is finding your car park. You need to find one on-street or park in the mall then walk.
Ok, so the laksa looks great in photos but is lacking the authentic thick Udon style noodles, instead having a lot of regular noodles, is thin on the goodies (the meats, the veges, the bean curd etc). Pretty good laksa flavour but not a patch on, for example, Nudels (217, Willis St, Wellington) brilliant authentic laksa. Will keep hunting for Lower Hutts best laksa because it ain't here. Otherwise fine. Very nice, friendly people.
