Balmer Lawn Saltus Brockenhurst New Forest

We faced a small issue with the bathtub plug, which was stuck in the drain, requiring us to use a spoon to drain the water after bathing. We did inform the reception about this. The staff members were all very friendly, and the hotel is located in a lovely area. Although the presentation and taste of the evening meals were excellent, we experienced long wait times. On our first night, a young waitress informed us that she wouldn't submit our order to avoid overwhelming the kitchen, despite there being only five tables occupied in the main restaurant. On our second evening, we ordered two cold desserts, one of which was ice cream, but after waiting thirty minutes without receiving them, we decided to cancel our order. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

The hotel is in need of some refurbishment and upgrades, particularly when it comes to the decor in the rooms. The towels were stained, and the bed frames in our 'upgraded' room were dirty, worn out, and left exposed. Additionally, the shower only provided scalding hot water, making it impossible to use. At dinner, I was assured that I was being served gluten-free bread, but that was not the case, and I ended up feeling extremely ill for several days. It was clear that the staff lacked proper training. Overall, I would rate the rooms a 2 out of 5.

Very good staff were very friendly the room was larger than most hotel rooms allowing you to spread out more overall good value just the evening meals were a bit on the expensive side could do with some of the ordinary pub grub meals for those people that do not appreciate the more fine dining Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4
