Bidra med feedbackThe new outdoor concert venue is awesome! Even more so when the wind is not blowing out of the north. If you haven't been here in years, you're in for a nice surprise.Tip: do NOT park on the side of the on or off ramp you will get ticketed and/or towed!
We arrived at 6:45 for a 7pm show. They were turning cars away after waiting 30+ mins to get in, so we parked on the I-80 on-ramp. As we were walking in we noticed the parking lot was ⅔ empty. More than two hours later they made an announcement and said go move your car off the on and off ramps of I-80 before they 're towed (there were no no parking signs there). 200+ guests left to go move cars and as we were walking out one of the parking attendants was taunting us saying you should 've just paid the $10 to park here! ... That didn 't age well, it nearly ended in a fist fight as we all tried to tell him we were turned away. After I moved my car off the on-ramp, I had to drive by Saltair and now the attendants were allowing vehicles to park in the parking lot and gladly taking our money. I missed ⅓ of the show, needless to say. That was my 1st and last show at The Great Saltair. I 'm glad I hadn 't pre-paid for parking to only be turned away, and then later taunted, and then allowed in, as so many were. As we were leaving, we wanted to go west on I-80, but the staff forced us to go east on the frontage road. 3 miles later we were able to go westbound on I-80. 6 miles out of our way! Why don 't we get a choice on what direction we want to go when exiting??
Parking needs improvement. But the venue outside is intimate. Great space. After a while you don't smell the brine shrimp anymore.
I am a VERY avid concert goer and The Great Saltair is one of my favorites. Merch stand is placed in an efficient location, usually a decent about of breathing room, honestly depending on the crowd though. Just saw “Young the Giant” VIP and front row to the stage sounds just as good as it does in the back. Renovations have been well worth it.
Went for a concert. The concert was amazing. So, this review has nothing to do with the performance. However, the venue was extremely hot and is not air conditioned. They have swamp coolers and fans which made it really muggy. I'm surprised there were not more people passing out from heat exhaustion. One huge positive was the security people on the ground level were fabulous and were handing out ice water to anyone who needed it. I'm just not a huge fan of standing only venues anyway. The upstairs security was extremely rude. At one point I was told I could not stand where I was standing. I complied and moved but the security guard stood there yelling at me for about 2 minutes. About 5 minutes later another person went and stood there and no one said anything to them. So, I lost my better view of the clinic.Saltair, with its history in Utah has so much potential. It would be cool to see the owners invest in the space and make it a bit nicer for concerts. Add some A/C, keep the fans, add a seated area, and
