Opal Basil on the Trace - Mandeville

This is my favorite restaurant on the north coast. delicious and unique eating. small portions. I don't love the place, but it's eating it.

When we learned that opal basil moved from ns to ss, we knew we had to eat there immediately, and so we booked 2 more visits before they moved. eating was absolutely amazing. we tried the bbq garnelen deviled ei with pulled pork under the suggestion of our server. it wasn't something I'd ever ordered, but next time it's gonna order, it was delicious! the hummertamale and the Zilantro-Calc sash with gnocchi never disappoint. this is one of our favorite night restaurants. it will be missed on the northshore. but only one more reason to drive. a lot of luck opal basil! you will blossom!

Always delicious every time! the best restaurant in mandeville by far

We had a wonderful experience in opal basil. the food was very good and the service. we had the briskettamal, avocado and crab salad, the bbc garnelen teufelseier and the brandy cake dessert. because everything is a tasting menu/small dish, we had a sufficient amount of food without pampering. the only complain I have is that the menu, while excellent tasting, was a bit disjointed with a strange number of certain types of food and not enough of others. I like a small menu, but three things, the deceptions were strange.

Opal Basil was a delightful experience. While the restaurant has a great menu they also offer daily chef Selections for one Price which is what we selected for our dinner. All four courses were excellent and two came with either a Wine or Cocktail pairing which complemented the course. Wonderful dining experience which we will return to enjoy again.
