Bidra med feedbackWhile exploring Marburg and its christmas markets we got hungry, but weren't in the mood for typical christmas market fast food. Upon keeping our eyes open for a promising looking place to eat at, we came across Bistro Early. First we noticed the interior with Gustav Klimt art, which we enjoyed. Sitting down inside and going through the menu, we were surprised at the many food options, including some you don't commonly come across in Germany. There are many pasta and pizza dishes to choose from, as well as a great variety of casserole meals, including some with Mediterranean background. There is also a small section with dessert options. Our waiter was friendly, the food good, and the ambience pleasant.
This is a strange restaurant in several ways it is made to look like a German/Local place and like a franchise, but it's actually Mediterranean and not part of a chain. Some entrepreneur saw the chance for a cheap but decent eatery at this location and had this designed. I agree with the reviews here overall the food is piping hot, comes fast, seems freshly made, and ingredients are good (if not expensive, i.e. more potatoes than meat, but well duh), but there is a bit of a lack of flavors and seasoning overall. Service was students on side jobs; these days, after the pandemic, it's an achievement to have enough personnel to begin with. Mainly, this is a place to have food outside, in the pedestrian zone, and for that, it has a great location (crossing with the steps from valley to castle). This is what it is not a gutbürgerliches Restaurant, but basically an alternative one up, but solidly up, from say a cheap pizza or a Döner. For that, it does its job very well. If you want a German or Italian restaurant proper (at double the price), go a few meters further to the Marktplatz.
We were with six persons and ordered some salads and pizza and pasta. On tripadvisor it said it was also a german food restaurant, but this is not correct. Nevertheless the food food was excellent, service as well. It is a recommendation to eat here if you like Italian. The restaurant is not expensive at all and mostly used by a younger crowd. I would go here again if we would visit Marburg.
Went to this restaurant as they serve a big selection of the local “Auflauf” dish. Basically a casserole with choice of fillings. We had pasta and rice dishes with various fillings. Chicken, Veg, mushrooms. And of course covered with melted cheese and mushrooms
We chose this restaurant because of its reviews, and we weren’t disappointed. We ordered a small salad and the arlauf of potatoes, chicken, and vegetables. It was plenty for us to share, and it was delicious. Plus the prices are very reasonable! The menu is huge. I would definitely eat here again.
