The Hornby Visitor Centre And Cafe

Small place packed with mostly train exhibits plus Scalextric, a great shop and a large cafe. Took me back to my childhood years! Has a Harry Potter layout and it's own platform 9 3/4 too!

Friendly staff. Very quiet on a week day. Lots on display. Various tracks layout. Not all layouts working although had sign ask staff if not working. Had trains inc Thomas to have a go push button. No other hands on understandable. Also scaletric 2 cars. One faster than other. Had Harry potter area can't rate as not interested in. Had history of company and various brands. Lots in gift shop, although with focus on new TT trains little N gauge. Had various for sale items. Had nice looking cafe are but closed as we arrived after 3pm and wholemplace closed at 4.

Very lovely and interesting to see all the models of the trains throughout the years and the lay outs of them all. Was a fun quick visit. Shop, toilets and cafe is also included here.

Loved this place. Some of the items I remember my son having 40 years ago. If you don't want to go when the children are on holidays go on weekdays as it is quiet and you can see things a lot better.

The TV show area is badly organised... it hard to hear the sound with visitors standing around talking laughing and joking. Two un-cushioned benchs for 5 watching visitors for a 60min film stupid really. Everything else is 100% ideal and would get 5 stars easily.
