Bidra med feedbackMy mom recommended this place and praised the food! I ordered a veggie plate and was disappointed. Collards they?re a little sweet, which I normally don?t like, but it?s good. Cabbage has a bit of a bite to it, like vinegar, not to my liking. Cornbread Dressing just ok, maybe I required more gravy. Mac and Cheese just ok. Although I didn?t care for much of the sides IF I?m ever in the area during the week, I?ll try a meal with meat to give it another shot, but I willnot go out of my way.
Had a veggie plate, it was delicious! Perfectly seasoned, not too much but definitely some there. Cornbread isn?t sweet which is fine with me, I?m just used to sweet cornbread. Definitely recommend. They were very nice as well.
If they are looking for yummy homestyle comfort, this is the place teresa, our host, was the sweetest and greeted us with a smile. she let us know what was on the menu and gave her recommendations as it was out there. we ordered the Wels-Nuggets, hot chicken wings, peach baskets and sweet potato cakes. the nuggets and wings both came with 2 sides and a mini loaf of maisbrot. I have green and fried okra. my friend has mac and cheese and roasted okra. nothing was oily/fatty. the catfish nuggets were perfect, medium-sized fish and the teig was not too thick, so it had a nice crust to fish ratio. it came with a smooth honey/hot mustard type of tarter sose, well paired with the fried okra. the hot wings were delicious (teresa let us know that the wings were about 20 min, but we were good with waiting. they were not overcooked and dry wings, they were crunchy on the outside and had good taste while nice and delicate on the inside. the hot wings were a wet ruble, not a dry ruble. the scratched greens had a nice taste. the mac and the cheese were in order. the peach cups and sweet potato cakes were delicious and had the right amount of sweet. here are some pictures, we had already dig in before I know them so easily that they give them more than what they see:
Lots of smiles and a wonderful welcome from Sherry! The food was amaaaazing! Presentation was on point! Potato salad reminded me of my Chi-Town Days . It was so good it left me speechless!
A friend recently referred me to The Manna House. You can either dine in or order to go. I ordered a veggie plate and peach cobbler, and the food was cooked to perfection. The price is standard around $13); however, I feel the desserts are pricey for the serving size $6.30). The ladies managing the place are friendly and pleasant and the food is delicious. I highly recommend this soul food restaurant.
