Bidra med feedbackFriendly service and a delightfully clean room. And for exactly the same price I payed a few days before for a repulsive room at the Towson East Motel. 2013 #103 365
Interesting! Cheap! Worth it for a one night stopover! So lets go deeper. A friend and I were on our way to the middle of nowhere n Virginia (from MA) and I thought that we should go the extra few miles and stop in West Virginia...so we did! The Knights Inn had the best price, about $50 for a night, and the pic on their website makes the place look ghetto, but its actually better in person. The beds and room were standard, no bedbugs and a lovely hole punched in the bathroom door. The room had a microwave and a refrigerator which was good. Check in/out was fast and easy, and very friendly. They do have breakfast until 9 I think, but I got there too late to see what it was. Probably muffins or donuts or something, oh and coffee. So if you are planning a stopover, this is a decent place to do so. Martinsburg closes early, but there is a Waffle house about a 30 second drive which is open 24 hours.
Stayed one night, and woke up to barely lukewarm hot water. No one was at the front desk to inform of the issue. As I had an early departure (about 6 am), I had to leave without a shower. Filed complaint with Knights Inn website... received response claiming I had berated and cursed out the staff. I never had any contact with the staff after check-in so that is not possible. Please do not blame the guests for your own problems. Be willing to eat a night's stay to satisfy an unhappy guest. Right now, I am more upset over the untruthful response than the original problem.
The girl who checked me in wasn't very warm, but she certainly was not rude. The check in process was very transactional. She gave us a room at the end where we could easily access our vehicle and trailer, which I appreciated. The room was clean and acceptable, although the paint job was sloppy. The shower head had some type of yellow goop around it. Cheap shower heads. They have better ones at Walmart for $2. They could have done a better job on the visual appeal (e.g. sloppy finish in the bathroom), but most importantly, the room was CLEAN although it smelled like mold.
This place is perfect for a quick stay. Good price, good location, and all you need. Microwave and mini-refrigerator, clean, AC, iron and ironing board, and blow-dryer in room. Right off I-81, close to plenty of food options. The lady at the desk when I checked in wasn't all that friendly, but there was also a man who was really helpful when I asked about places to see in the area. I would return.
