Blue Bay Cafe - MCCRAE

We called in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised, the coffee and cake was very good in a pleasant atmosphere.

We dropped by for a quick bite to eat, and were pleasantly surprised. The gas coal fire was on and the sun was shiny outside. The huge doors that open in summer let in plenty of light and provide an impression of space. Lots of people came in while we were there. We were served promptly. I had the Seaford platter for $30 and my companions had a tasting plate for $12. There were no complaints. We had a glass of wine for $7 each which these days is reasonable and the coffee was good.

I think the coffee was the average best thing about this place. Ordered benedict eggs and the eggs were undercooked. Then my husband tried to get a gluten free ( he has coeliac) iced coffee - sure almost everything was gluten free after my husband had to check with manager/staff everything was labeled GF. Waitress then comes with iced-coffee with sprinkled chocolate (non-gluten free) then she suggested to scoop it out. Clearly, this place needs a bit more knowledge about cross contamination - waitress cracked it and made my husband uncomfortable. Bad service - never going back there again!

4 breakfast orders from menu and all 4 had their problems. Crispy bacon specially ordered-bacon was barely cooked. The cooked/ roasted tomato was ice cold in the middle, salmon was off colour and dry, burnt toast, overdone eggs and the smashed avocado looked like only a spoonful and pressed down once with a fork. $130 spent between us and it would of been better buying a sausage roll and $1 coffee from 7/11!! The nice Irish girl serving was the only plus.

As locals we thought we would try something new and came to BBC cafe for breakfast.I ordered the breakfast foccasia and my husband the English breakfast.The focassia for $16.90 was expensive and NOT worth it..... really nothing special at all... bacon undercooked, egg over cooked and definitely not worth almost $17 expected so much better THEN my husband is 3/4 through his breakfast of which the bacon is not crispy and slightly undercooked to see that amongst his poached eggs is RAW egg!!! We took the plate up to the counter to show the young guy running the place that they've served my husband raw egg and he said " sorry" before quickly taking the plate away leaving me standing there.....No offer to re-cook, no offer to replace or ANYTHING so lucky they take payment on ordering otherwise he would of got ZERO!!So many better places to eat breakfast don't waste you time and money here.
