Bidra med feedbackThe set menu pricing is a bit of a concern. The wine per glass to my experience is overpriced for this standard of dining . My wife didn't really like the mains choices which are limited and was considering two entrees but this would be cost prohibitive. She took the gnocchi instead and only ate half because it was poor quality. I enjoyed the entrée and the lamb dish I had but found the portions small. Then when the bill came it was broken into cost per dishes which was more disappointing to find out we paid $55 each for the gnocchi and lamb. I'm sure I could find plenty of restaurants for better value and food in the Blue Mountains. Won't be back.
We visited in JULY for Xmas gustation meal 5 courselittle did i know this was to be a surprise meal involving tasting of food as compared to a hearty meal, each presentation was an experience i really was not aware that apples and pears could be found to be so small, size compared to a large grapeat the end of the 2 hr time we were surprisingly ,reasonable full (we did not go and look for Macs ,as i first thought would be the case) Price was over the top at $125 per headwe did not try any other meals in this place we did have wine and Tapas in the lounge area and quite enjoyed the tastings as you kept ordering till you were full
We went to the Hydro Majestic Hotel for a high tea experience in the winter garden room and we were all instantly delighted by the spectacular views. They were by far the best views any hotel in the mountains had to offer. Overlooking the Megalong Valley, it was just the place to sit and enjoy high tea. High tea itself was beautiful but average. Sandwiches were fresh and tasty but not enough. I am not a quiche fan and unfortunately there were two tiny servings on my tier. I would of much preferred the option of different sandwiches rather than the quiches. Scones were delicious and the deserts were very well presented. Staff were excellent, very attentive. Our waiter Ben was excellent. Would definitely recommend high tea, the views itself is well worth visiting.
We booked for the Xmas in July Yuletide 'feast'. As Christmasists we were quite disappointed in the lack of Xmas cheer and decorations especially given this was supposed to be a Xmas in July celebration. It felt like a regular Saturday night sitting with a few Bon bons and Xmas statues. My guess was because they need to clear it all off for the weekday trade. Pianist was lovely but not a Xmas track in the whole repertoire. No staff in Xmas gear. In fact staff were mediocre at best. The spirit of Xmas?? Certainly lost on this occasion. Management should be ashamed. And yeah I know what response I'll get to this. The same one cut and pasted as all the other reviews get. Food - apart from the standard turkey and Xmas pudding affair it was decent but not worth $125 a head given zero Santas were given with the rest of the Xmas vibe. And speaking of ... where was he? In fact where was the manager walking around greeting people and spreading Xmas cheer? Gone missing. Ohh yeah the carrots were cut and served in quarters. Stingey.
We went there last weekend as part of our self organised "Gourmet luxury getaway". We had a great Dinner at the Darley's Reataurant. This was excellent and worth the money. After that we thought it might be great to have a High Tea" at the Hydro Majestic as we had passed by there several times and always were fascinated by the setting. The setting is the only Reason for the 2 points as the High Tea was absolutely overpriced and of average Quality. We had the Western and the Eastern version and both were disappointing. We left hungry after paying Approx $150 for 2. Can't repeat it often enough, Rip off, the worst I have seen for a long time. If you go there, get a coffee and enjoy the view.
