The "Beer deluxe" is a good stop for a bite to eat and a drink - and is very centrally located. It's not exactly cozy, a bit noisy in places, but okay. The food is typical of the pub - nothing special, but it is well done here.
Went with friends for dinner and drinks. Great atmosphere with the plave buzzing with people. Had a live band on outside which was pretty good. Extraordinary selection of crafty drinks. Beer and cider. We all had burgers and they were all good and reasonably priced.
Beer DeLuxe is a cafe/restaurant/bar, I ordered the Lot burger with chips. The burger and bacon was well cooked, the salad was nice with the sauce but the egg, the egg wasn't fully cooked and the yolk broke instantly. The burger was also put together poorly and fell apart quickly. But regardless of the egg it was pretty good and did I mention the chips were delicious.
We were there to try some American stouts and thought the food sounded inviting. The first beer was a Firestone Walker “Nitro Merlin” milk stout (5%). This was a soft, sessionable stout with gentle bubbles from the nitrogen. This was followed by Founders “Lizards of Koz” (10%). This was closer to a chocolate liqueur. Rich, heavy and potent with an overwhelming chocolate nose and flavour. Very memorable but not stout as we know it! I needed a cleanser and tried the Stone Tangerine Express IPA. Unlike Mountain Goat’s Pulp Fiction, it was hard to detect the tangerine beyond a citrus nose. We also had a serving of the red curried pork sausage rolls at $14.5. This suffered from a sweet and spicy sauce that confused all the flavours and it could have been any meat with pastry. The House Made pork
