Bidra med feedbackDropped into this hotel tonight for an end of the week unwind. 3 to 4 staff behind the bar, 3 old fellas sitting at the bar, and me standing at the bar waiting. Totally ignored. The staff introduced a newbie staff member to the old timers, but still totally ignored me, even though I was the only other person standing at this bar. Really disappointing. Eventually walked out and went to Stingo's just a short distance up the road. What a difference in hospitality and service!!!!
Friendly service and nice food were enjoyed by the four of us. Looks like a very average pub and dining room but the food quality is good. Lovely lamb shank; tasty chicken korma; nice chicken parmigiana and a brilliant garfish meal. Good quality and good value.
A change of management has ruined past status of this dining room. Having had excellent previous experience I took two elderly friends there but was bitterly disappointed, in fact embarrassed. The previously seasonal menu has now been boosted by a laminated two sided sheet of standard items. We ordered a bottle of Victorian cab sav from the wine menu only to find we had been poured a NZ cab malbec merlot . We notified a different waiter who brought in the requested bottle but by the time arrived it was too late to change. Our meals of Nepalese curry and eggplant lasagne were both presented in Indian copper bowls which were scorching hot, however the contents were only barely warm. We chose not to complain because we were hungry. The flavours of both were nothing remarkable and presentation was mundaneWe were offered the dessert menu and all chose to share a cheese platter. Some 15 minutes later the waiter returned to say that they were extremely busy and the platter would take another 20 minutes to be served. The dining room had only one other table of 8 and it was only a Wednesday night and what did it take to present a cheese platter? We decided to have coffee elsewhere! The new management may have no desire to continue the good reputation of the food at their hotel, but I will be telling my friends who have previously used this reliable place, not to bother any more.
A warm, cosy dining experience looking out to a beautiful courtyard garden. Pork with kipfler potatoes perfectly cooked and beautifully presented and to finish a moist chocolate cake with mango ice cream and decorated to perfection with subtle flavours. The open fires in 3 different rooms of this hotel create a wonderful cosy evening out.
I went in last night at about 8.30 pm. I was glad to find anything open on a Monday at all, and I just wanted more than something from the many pizza places. Although it was towards the end of the evening, the young guy behind the bar was welcoming and hospitable. As a hospitality professional of 30 years I like wine and he got me a glass of chardy which was available by the btl on the list. The kitchen provided a great pork cutlet, and by the time I left, I think I was the only person in the pub. And I was still not hurried out! That's refreshingly professional. I've dined here in the bar a couple of times on previous trios to Oz. Same thing. Great meals. Helpful staff.
