Bidra med feedbackFaraday' Cage is on Gore St, just off Johnston St, Fitzroy. It specialises in bread baked on the premises - especially sourdough- and has an all day menu of tempting and delicious food. Service is quick and friendly and ready to recommend favourite dishes from the menu. Try the 'Granola with pear', 'The Mushrooms', 'Eggs Benny' or 'Hot smoked Salmon & Fritters'. But it's all good so you won't be disappointed with any selection! There are also pastries and cakes, also baked on site, for the sweet tooth.
Lovely little cafe which has been transformed from an old brick lined factory / warehouse into a modern and hip eatery and bakery. The breakfast menu was one of the most diverse and exotic I had seen. I went for a more traditional Eggs Benny, traditional only in the fact that it had two poached eggs. It came with pulled pork, pickled chilies and a chipotle hollaindase sauce. My wife had the ricotta pancakes which came with lots of fresh berries and mascarpone and was absolutely scrumptious. another in our party had mushroom ragout which was wild mushrooms, with garlic and herbs on a polenta brick and drizzled with truffle oil. And the coffee was pretty good too.
I came across this delightful cafe after taking a wrong turn, what a turn of fortune. I love the back alleys of Melbourne so we ate at a table out the back, looking down the back back lane. My lunch, the Grilled halloumi on toast, was delicious and looked great on the plated. It was sunny day, not too hot, so the outdoor setting was nice and relaxing. Afterwards I bought an apple pie, one of the best I've ever had, tasty with nice flaky pastry. Will definitely be back here and hopefully bring along some friends or family.
Not exceptional, but a good standard Fitzroy breakfast cafe. Dishes interesting, coffee tastes good, and friendly people.
Tucked away from the noisy 'trendoids' over Johnston Street is Faradays Cage a bakery, cafe and a slice of calm. The man and I are on the search for furniture for our new abode and to beat the Yuletide car crush on the Eastern 'car park' we ventured in early before the shops opened. 'Breakfastless' we stumbled across this lovely, gorgeous Cafe/ bakery.I had 5 Rice pudding with stewed fruits- ooh, to die for! The man had puffed rice granola equally delumpious. The Tea came in lovely iron cast pot and my soy latte was rich chocolatey and smooth. The wait staff are lovely and knowledgeable and the specials are extensive. The menu is quirky and very interesting - we will be back ....Highly recommended- a real gem!
