Riva St. Kilda - Melbourne

I have been living in st kilda since the last 6.5 years and always wondered why this beautiful place was always empty in a beautiful lacation. Well, that gave me a clear answer. the bar offers were so cold and rude to all. group of people 10 friends who celebrated a 60th birthday. we were the only ones who just started drinking and spending the rest of the night there. the bar staff in the second floor, where so rude to the whole group that we had to leave after the first drink. we are very relaxed and funny people to be around and we really do not take it too much to heart, but these two barkeepers where extreamly rude and respectful Canadian and these other on these early 20s). fortunately, there are many other bars with beautiful employees on this street, we moved on and actually had a nice time in this night. never feet in there again.

My husband and I have visited Riva Many times,over the last 10 years. I celebrated my 60th Birthday 10 years ago and could not fault this place, fabulous views of the Bay,Service outstanding, food exceptional !! Great meeting place,has a fabulous fire place for winter...nights. Never any complaints EVER! Just recently my Husband and I visited RIVA on a Sunday afternoon, to our amazement there were only 2 people on the Balcony having a drink. With its stunning views across the Bay,and its reputation for Amazing Food, we were so surprised the Restaurant was empty. The Place had no atmosphere, the windows were dirty, and restaurant looking tired. Can someone tell me why this Restaurant has dropped off! It was one of the best Restaurants in ST KILDA !!!!

Riva has long been a St Kilda treasure for sometime that I had yet to visit, but people I know who have been there have said great things so I was excited when my work had advised that we were having our Christmas Party here....Arrived late afternoon to the entrance which fronts onto the St Kilda Marina, it is split into 2 levels, downstairs where there is an indoor/outdoor bar with turfed court outdoor area and then an indoor area which is often facilitated for functions and events, where upstairs facilitates the restaurant with lovely bay views and serene setting. It is easily accessible by car, tram , Uber ect, the staff are lovely and accommodating and went out of their way to ensure we were never without a drink in hand and their finger food selections were fresh, tasty and made with local produce. Would defintley recommend for friends for a drink/dinner catch up, couples for date night, first date location, and girls night out, will defintley return again and go upstairs and try the restaurant

Used to come here quite often years ago and was impressed with the food, service and ambiance. Not so now. Returned the steak to the kitchen as served cold. Table was breaking apart. Service was ordinary. Certainly won't be back which is a shame as...the views of the marina and the bay are still lovely.

Totally ignores the current covid 19 restrictions. left because we don't feel safe. pity to riva that we all endangered in view of the current health adviser.
