Fish and chips shops are aplenty in Melbourne but not all of them are created equal. For those searching for a one that sets the bar high, then head over to Scales Fish Chippery. Bright, spacious and airy, with gorgeous shades of aquamarine tiles, the interior exudes a beachside feel to it.<br/ <br/ Tucking into the Reef Pack ,which comprised of a fried fish of the day, fried prawns and a crab stick, I was impressed with the thin crispy batter, and also the soft, slightly flaky fish that managed to hold its texture well. The beautiful batter was also evident in both the prawns and the crab stick. Speaking of which, the prawns, in both the fried and grilled version, were plump juicy morsels of yum. <br/ <br/ The Seafood Skewer Pack, in which I chose the seafood skewer and the scallops skewer, were flawless in execution, taste and freshness. The brown rice and the Greek salad helped balanced out the meal with healthy eating vibe, but I definitely could not say no to the hot crunchy chips. <br/ <br/ Most definitely a place I would recommend to all! There’s got to be more than just fish and chips at Scales! You walk into a nice spacious fish and chip shop with a display window of fresh seafood at the front and another display of fresh salad ranges available.<br/ <br/ There was a good range of options on the menu and we decided to try the fish and chips and the grilled seafood skewers. They come with different sides options and we went with the rice and salad<br/ <br/ The fish and chips is nice and the batter was light and crunchy. It was very fresh and the salads were good. I really enjoyed the grilled skewers as they were cooked nicely and the seafood was fresh! <br/ <br/ Really enjoyed our meal here, not forgetting they have a nice seating area outside which is perfect for a sunny day

The restaurant has elevated the traditional family meal of fish and chips to a whole new level. Everything is cooked to perfection and seasoned well. This place is far from boring - the service is fantastic and the interior is beautiful and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant to any seafood lover. It is definitely worth a visit!

Scales Fish Chippery is a modern and sleek fish and chip shop located just off Lygon Street in Brunswick East. The restaurant is rather spacious offering both indoor and outdoor seating, as it was raining when we visited we opted to sit inside.Visiting for dinner we ordered the chargrilled calamari with avocado salad, fried reef pack (fish of the day with two prawns, crab sticks chips), a grilled seafood prawn skewer and a pineapple fritter. The highlights for me were the calamari, grilled skewers and the chips in the reef pack. The calamari was perfectly cooked and full of flavour and worked beautifully with the avocado salad. The avocado salad was just one of a number of fresh salads on display to choose from. We opted to have the skewers coated with garlic which just heightened the flavour. The chips were highly addictive, crispy and well seasoned, we couldn’t get enough. The pineapple fritter was a nice way to end our meal, golden and crunchy on the outside and warm and sweet on the inside.Overall I had a great experience at Scales and I recommend that you check them out when you’re looking for a fish and chips fix. With its stunning interior and perfect location in the heart of Brunswick. scales delivers a modern take on the classic dish and chips. We ordered the calamari, prawn and scallop skewers with Greek salad and sweet potato fries, grilled salmon and sweet potato cakes. All of the seafood was seasoned and cooked to perfection and we devoured every last bit! In particular, the prawn and scallops skewers, which were basted in sweet chilli sauce, were so tasty and flavourful! The sweet potato fries were also a stand out as they were so flavoursome and perfectly crispy! If you’re in the mood for some fresh, high quality and delicious fish and chips, we highly recommend that you give this place a visit!
