Bidra med feedbackWas recommend to try this banana leaf restaurant by a close friend. We made the 1 hour trip across town. Had trouble making a booking as the old owners did not inform many of the sites and this, the telephone number was wrongFor good order sake, the correct telephone number for Spicy Avenue, Port Melbourne is 96762550.Now to the food. For $9.90, you get the basic banana leaf meal with unlimited rice, vegetables, papadams and 3 types of gravy. Fish, chicken or meat is extra. However, the price is very reasonable. They vary from $5 to $8 and the serves are generous. More importantly, the dry fried chicken was simply delicious. The fried chicken and fish are freshly fried. This makes.then moist and above averageThey also serve a range of Malaysian hawker good but we did not try them. However, the friend who did try them did enjoy them.To finish off the meal, we all had Malaysian tea tarik. We found it a bit on the weak side so remember to ask for strong when ordering.Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant is operated by Doreen and Sam supported by other family members. They deserve success as my group voted to visit them again next week
This place recently reopened under new ownership. The food is mainly Chinese/Malaysian and was very tasty. The menu is very confusing but i am guessing they want to see what people are eating and base the new menu on those choices. The prices are extremely reasonable and the plate plentiful. I am looking forward to going back in a while.
I love good Indian food and this place delivers everytime. I like to try different things on the menu each time and every dish is great. Flavour is so important and each dish has great flavours. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try.
I do not understand why this place is not always busy. The food is outstanding and the Tiffin Meal is a nice addition and well priced at $22.50 a head. Your choice of 2 curries, Naan bread and rice for that price. Do yourself a favour and go eat here !
All we can say is wow!!! We were a little put off by the lack of people in the resturant, which as a general rule means stay away right.. We'll definitely not with spice av not a chance. We arrived for dinner with the warmest welcome, and of course accomodated. It's a family run business so we had the opportunity to have a very nice chat with the gorgeous woman who owns the place. We had a bunch of friends in town and desperately felt like an authentic Indian treat like back in our old Indian delight hood of East London not an easy feat that's for sure, but the food at this quiet Indian establishment on Bay Street had us all re living our fondest memories of good old London Town! One word phenomenal!!! We ordered loads of food to try, the naan, tandoori roti, Pilau rice, the lamb cutlets, butter chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, chicken Jalfrezi, lamb rogan josh, I think that was it.We thought surely not everything is going to be tastey, every dish was made with love and each had its own distinct flavour and every dish was just as delicious no joke, we were blown away by the service, the price, and of course everything we ordered. Finally we have found our favourite Indian it has become our local! We want to see every seat filled in this little gem of a Resturant as long as there is always a table for us of course. Port Melbourne's best kept secret (not anymore) Warm up your belly and surprise your tastebuds with an absolute treat with the most tastiest and delicious Indian in Port Melbourne.S&B
