Elwood's Shack - Memphis

Great place for lunch. Staff was excellent and the food was very good. The atmosphere is what is advertised which is old time charm.

The place is dirty, full of flies, the parking lot looks like a dump, the food is horrible, they lie when they say it's BBQ, everything is fried and almost burnt. We came to this place because of the recommendations we saw on the map, but in reality it has nothing to do with what they say; but the guy who serves is very kind.

Ok, ima start off with the negatives. I came out to this location good smoked bbq style southern food. Specifically a burger. 13+ for a regular burger and no fries is high. The bun quality was good but no where near 13 and no fries or sides that come. Second, the Real Problem is this chicken quesadilla. 13 . We were promised smoked high quality meat and I kid you not, “we were starved Walmart frozen bagged fajita mix chicken” it was try and broke off into pieces. The onions and peppers were raw as it can. And the cheese was cold and it wasn’t melted. it was gross and not up to ANY sit down standard. I had such high hopes and wanted so bad to want to come back, but I wouldn’t from the basic experience. The atmosphere and customer service was GREAT! No complaints.

Loved the atmosphere here! Though it might be in a shack, don’t let that fool you from how amazing their food is! We both ordered dry ribs and as you guessed… they fell off the bone and tasted delicious. This is probably the best BBQ I’ve ever had. The tater salad and baked beans were also to die for. I will come back here next time I’m in Memphis. New favorite spot for BBQ!

This place gets it , while no one else does! Will come back !
