Completely looked after by dog friendly staff. Fantastic menu for both dogs and their owners. Beautiful large well manicured grounds and dog walks. Hotel was beautifully clean and well kept, menu was food locally sourced, with a good choice and was lovely presented . Hotel is positioned well, with a small train station down the road, Barnstaple, Torrington and Bideford close by. Bude and Oakhampton slightly further.

We stayed here last year and came back for more of the same on a 2 night deal thru Trevelzoo. The staff are amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Excellent food and good accommodation. The owners are friendly and you can tell the staff enjoy working there, and they all love dogs, very important. The treehouse is spectacular as is the price for staying in it.

Very friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble. Generally relaxed and laid back feeling. Spotless room and beautiful grounds backing onto the river Taw. The food was absolutely and consistently fantastic. I’ll be back.

The location, carpark, and walk to the front door all seemed lovely at first impression. However, once we entered, the atmosphere was odd. No one greeted us or acknowledged our presence, and others in the restaurant seemed uncomfortable as well. We tried to order drinks before our dinner reservation, but the bartender appeared flustered and unfamiliar with our request. Despite the strange experience, we decided to stay and asked for some cokes. We were served half a glass of draught coke, topped up with a glass bottle of coke, and told that we couldn't sit in the bar area. This was the final straw, and we knew it was time to find another place for lunch.

Did not start of on a good note. Having booked direct with the hotel for sunday lunch, we arrived and they had no knowledge if booking. Their booking system is not working properly. Had to wait whilst they found a table. Tried to put three of us on a small table for two stuck in a corner but agreed to move us when complained. Service was not brilliant. Very much self service. No real apology for the mix up. Food was good plentiful.
