Bidra med feedbackHad a really excellent Monday night special barbecue ribs. The ribs were absolutely fall off the bone and excellent. The house salad is amazing and the blue cheese crumbles are fantastic. Matt, the general manager, checked in on us and make sure everything was taken care of. The food came out quickly and was served hot. I would highly recommend this place. Everyone seem to be enjoying themselves. It's a little loud on the inside which makes it hard for us old people to hear.
My Midwestern taste buds had to come try out The Flying Pig, a local barbecue spot in the south-westside of Richmond Virginia. The ambiance is that of a sports bar. Fun, elevated and welcoming. Food is a must try! The fried pickles, come like a delectable piece of fish, fried in cornmeal. There are an assortment of sauces for you dipping pleasure. I suggest you try them all. However my favorite by far is the South Cacilicki. It is a mustard base sauce, a must try if you are to come into the flying pig. The baked beans are heavenly, the more you eat them the deeper you fall into Southern Comfort. A delicate, but deep smoky flavor is accompanied by the Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers and the smoked pulled pork. The Burnt Ends were unique!! Different from a Texas Style. This is Carolina style BBQ! The Macaroni and Cheese is creamy and the Beer selection includes local creations. I had a Cotu Pochoptas IPA that paired well. The service staff is top notch. I highly recommend this special place. See Mikaela...She is Great!
This is the best grill on the Southside! We come here to eat and drink frequently. Make sure to check out the weekday and Happy Hour specials. I absolutely love the pulled pork grill. Their fried okra is fantastic, too. The nachos are huge, so be prepared to share or take some home!
I ordered the nachos with brisket, while my husband opted for the brisket tacos and smoked jalapeños. Both of our kids enjoyed mac and cheese, along with pommes and a warm salad topped with roasted crumbs. The salad was sweet, crispy, and unique. The sweet and vinegar-grilled sauces were divine, especially on the brisket—a taste sensation that was so good we ended up buying bottles of both sauces to use at home on pork roast ends. I would rate this place a perfect 10/10 and highly recommend making the drive back!
This popular sports bar and grill offers both table seating and a bar area. Although we were seated quickly, it took nearly 10 minutes for a waitress to come to our table. We ordered the Smoke Hickory Pulled Pork Grill Plate and added a house salad. I was honestly surprised when a small cup of pulled pork was placed in front of us. In a setting filled with large portions of fried food, that tiny serving of BBQ felt a bit overwhelming. I felt as if I should be counting points with Weight Watchers! In contrast, the two house salads we received were quite appealing. They were fresh and colorful, featuring greens, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, and beets, all topped with a zesty lime vinaigrette. My salad was light, delicious, and packed with texture. The salads truly saved our meal! Once we started on the pulled pork, we both agreed it was quite good—super tasty even before adding the sweet and tangy sauces. The Flying Pig really shines with the excellent quality of food they serve. However, I felt that the single cup of pineapple-pull pork, which accompanied the BBQ, was inadequate for the $15 price tag. After that initial disappointment, we took our time enjoying our meals and left feeling satisfied, without needing a take-home bag like most diners. We will definitely be back because the food was genuinely that good.
