Bidra med feedbackThis is a hostel with simpler accommodation. You shouldn't take a hotel or a resort. Nevertheless, the location near Yosemite NP makes the accommodation attractive. But, you need to calculate 45 minutes to the NP. At least in time we were there it was an affordable accommodation. The accommodations are simpler, but with a lot of love and offer the right for every budget. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and tries to find a solution for everything. The restaurant cooks fresh and has various dishes on the menu every day. What I particularly like is that they try to avoid waste and disposable packaging as much as possible.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the ?Bug.? ? I stayed here in a room with two queen beds with a couple of my friends in early June, 2022, and we all really enjoyed our stay. It was pretty amazing how, despite its quirky decor, the hotel accommodations were really comfortable. There were some really cool, creative sculptures of bugs around the property as well (see photos). The location was pretty ideal to access Yosemite, all things considered, with only a 35 minute drive to the El Portal entrance of the park. I couldn?t eat the food at the restaurant at ?the Bug? because they don?t accommodate severe gluten allergies celiac disease, but my friends said that, even though it was pricey, it was very good. The shared kitchenette space was actually extremely handy to have, too! Well organized and full of lots of kitchen appliances and utensils. Again, I was limited in terms of my gluten problem, but still got to boil water to make my dehydrated backpacking meals that were safe for me to eat, and was able to boil hard boiled eggs with my own kettle that I had brought, etc. It all worked out just fine, which pleasantly surprised me. My one regret is that I didn?t make it into the hot tub sauna massage spa! We checked it out on our last evening there, but it was about to close, and wasn?t going to open until the afternoon after we had checked out. It looked amazing though. I hope to come back and try it out someday.
I am a solo female traveler who stayed one night in the female dormitory and one night in the co ed. The outside of the buildings are a little worn down. But I guess it has a rustic vibe. The inside of the female dormitory was surprisingly nice. It slept 6 people in 1 room (3 bunk beds). The bathroom was newly renovated and very clean. There was a new AC unit installed. Everything was clean. The bed was not uncomfortable. 5/5 The co ed dormitory was not as nice as the female only. It was a bit more what I expected a little damp, peeling paint rust in the bathroom. An old AC unit. It slept 12 people (6 bunk beds). And my bed sank in the middle a bit. 3/5 Both dorms had a lot of internationals, mostly Europeans. And mostly young people but there was one middle aged couple in the co ed. Everyone was quiet and kept to themselves. Great for introverts but not the best for meeting people or making new friends. They provide towels, pillow, and bed sheets, so you do not need to bring your own. There was also shampoo, conditioner, soap provided. All of these were a nice surprise to me. The communal kitchen was clean and all the appliances were nice. Nothing was outdated. There's baskets to put pantry items in and a fridge to store cold food. The restaurant is very good. They have vegan and vegetarian options. There's also a spa although I did not try it. Overall, there's a lot of outdoor space to sit and relax. You must walk between cabins, some of it is uphill. There are wooden stairs. So I do not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. Overall, it is a great value (cheapest you'll find that's not camping) and decent location (40 min to Yosemite entrance, 1 hr to Yosemite valley). I would stay again!
This place felt like a total gem, especially as so many places closer to the Park are so expensive and lack privacy. I used the Female dorms/hostel space and it was perfect and an amazing deal. The best part of this place is all the outdoor space, seating areas, and the spa. Really great extra touches that are nice after such a long day of hiking!
It's not a bad place. The extremely out of place British themed room that came with a suggestive crop, saddle and two riding caps was hilarious. Otherwise, the rooms were pretty bland and hard to hike up to. Cafe has good food and we loved the hot soaks and hot tub.
